Default Heated ventilated seats?

I don't get it? My seats are putting out Hot air on my back when I turn on the vented seats function. I can feel the hot air from the passenger seats with my hands. And I made sure I pressed the button with the fan symbol (not the the one with the radiating seat bottom). My AUTO A/C is set around 75 degrees. It's really hot in Houston! Any suggestions?

You can set the controls to blow cold air at your feel, the vent fan will then blow cool air up, into the seats.

yeah, it's been fricken boiling down here in Houston this summer!

I've recently noticed this also. I think it is due to how god forsaken hot out it is right now.

Thanks, Stew4HD. But why not just blow cold air at my back as expected?

Its because they're ventilated seats, not cooled seats. There is not a dedicated flow of cooled air that powers the seats but just a fan that circulated ambient air through it. It'll only blow as cool as the air under the seat.

Ok, that makes sense. But not sure why the AUTO control doesn't automatically send cold air to the source of the ventilation air flow.

I guess Texas heat was not considered in this design.

I see what you mean but no car I've had ever sent any air to the footwells while on auto in hotter temperatures.

That is the right name for our ventilated seats. I gave up this feature. When it's hot, it took forever for the fan to ventilate the heat under the seat. It takes me 20-30 mins to get home and my back never got better (I felt as if it was even hotter when the fan was on). I decided not to turn it on and learned that the seats cool down faster. It's a nice feature when not too hot but useless when it is hot. I got a nice front sun shade that covers pretty much all the windshield and always have the rear and side shades on. That seems to help.

Yes, I've decided the feature is pretty useless for me. For most drives, it's just going to blow the most undesirable air.

It's for people with sweaty backs on long drives.

I have had mine on pretty much since I bought it. When I did turn it off, I could tell the difference

OK, the weather was not so hot today so I did find benefit from the ventilation. Just not useful when you need it the most, when it's freak'n hot.

Yep pretty much lol. I do use it 90% of the time I'm in the car though.

I've heard of RX owners taking a piece of carpet (you could use anything really) and using it to redirect the air from the vents under the seats (that normally cools the rear passengers) so that it stays mostly under the seats. And therefor cooler air for the ventilated seats.

I need to double check, but I thought the ventilation option pulled air through the seat, not push. The reason I say that is when I turn mine on, and lean forward, I can hear air noise similar to a vacuum sound. I'll check the owners book.
