Ouch! If anyone in the GTA was wondering how long it takes to replace the OEM windshield, it's a two-week wait in my case. On backorder, Lexus is getting one in for me now.

I always wondered if they used a different glass for cars with HUD.

I do believe they are different on HUD cars. They are on GM vehicles anyhow.

Yeah I guess it does looks like a baseball. But no, it was our garage door that jumped the rails and fell off. Happened to the wife and kids (I was at work). All that matters is no one got hurt...

I was expecting the worst, but hopefully will come in under half that amount. Will confirm once I've paid, I don't want to jinx myself.

Holy crap! I've never heard of that happening! Did you take pics of the GD on to of the car? Was it recently installed?

You're right about no one getting injured, that would have been bad!

Do you have LKA? That's a special windshield and HUD is a special windshield . I got a chip a month ago and luckily could be repaired.don't know what a windshield costs for this thing but I'll bet your insurance company was surprised.

It can happen if you push a garage door hard enough and no one has installed the safety bolts at the ends of the rails.

No pictures as the next door neighbor came running over straight away and held up the door up so my wife could drive the car out. The thing I don't really get is how a garage door can hit it and not cause even more damage. There is not one scratch on the body anywhere, just the glass. Must be the curve in the glass.

Since it's not going anywhere for a while I cleaned it inside and out. There are these tiny shards of glass in the interior that have made scratches.

I canceled my service appointment (to check my battery again, which has died twice now) so Lexus will look at that at the same time as they replace the glass.

No LKA in Canada (we have a powered trunk instead )

I will call Lexus to reconfirm they are getting me the proper replacement for the HUD etc. I have the Technology Plus package so it has the cold weather heater and the rain sensors as well.

Dealership over here quoted me $825 + tax CAD, all inclusive. I have the HUD, rain sensors & wiper heater coils as well. They said the windshield is cheaper than the GS3. I would avoid replacing the windshield from places other than the dealership (even though it may cost more), it's just piece of mind. My wife had her CT200h's windshield replaced by a 3rd party (franchise glass repair shop), they removed & broke the plastic clip on the A-pillar & won't take responsibilities for it.

OEM windshield and installed?
If so,that's really cheap.

I have those options as well so I hope that's correct. I wouldn't let anybody other than a dealer touch that windshield with all the stuff attached to the windshield above the mirror.

Dealership said they only use OEM & yes, installed
Various franchise glass repair shops tend to say the difference between OEM & non-OEM is just the Lexus label. Will need to research on that.
