So I made a post a few days ago, questioning the GS350's snow capabilities. After another test-drive, the my father is 99% sure he is going to Lexus. However, we are at a tossup for pricing.
Option #1:
2013 Lexus GS350 w/ package #2
Black/Black 1,200 Miles CPO
Wilkie Lexus in Pennsylvania (it's about 100 Miles from where we are in Maryland)
$49,990
Option #2:
2013 Lexus GS350 w/ package #2
Silver/Black Brand New
Lexus of Towson (I could walk there)
$50,990
The second option for the new one seems a lot more viable. However, is it worth doing a lot more shopping for a better price? The sticker for the new one is $55,972.
My father has told me what he wants, and since I'm the one that has fun buying cars, he told me to take control and call him when they need a signature!
As it turns out, I have found out where they would be making their money at such a price. The price is contingent upon financing through them at Lexus of Towson. I couldn't make determine the rate on the paper through just looking at it at the dealer, but I knew it was over 3%. I asked the salesman and he said it was around 2.4% - I sort of took his word for it.
I actually did some math tonight - the rate is 3.74%. Though it does not seem like they're making any money on the car given the price they are selling it for, they will make out ~$1,500 upon my financing.
A salesguy is a salesguy - he's trying to make a deal and get some commission - I understand that. However, I cannot tolerate a liar.
IF I end up going through Lexus of Towson, I will bypass the whole salesperson ordeal and work directly with the general manager. That being said, I have my fingers crossed that I can bypass all of Len Stoler/Lexus of Towson and the monopoly they have in the Baltimore Area!
