Default First Oil Change

I went in for my first service today (2,400 miles but nearly a year old) and, as advertised, this service was at no additonal charge to me.

I asked the service advisor what type of oil they use, consistent with the 0w20 requirements, and if it was Mobil 1 or another synthetic. They said they use Toyota oil and that it was rebranded Mobil oil. I asked the parts counter to show me the oil and, yes indeed, it indicated it was manufactured by Mobil and that it was a full synthetic motor oil.

I went ahead and let them use the Toyota oil even though I have used Mobil 1 up until this point.

What are your thoughts on this oil and do you think it is Mobil 1 or another formulation specific to the requirements of Toyota? Thanks in advance!!

2400 miles in a year - that's pretty low mileage

Did the dealership recommend the oil change? I thought first service (5k miles) doesn't have an oil change. Or was this service in lieu of both 5k and 10k service?

Sorry, no clue about the oil - personally, since it is still manufactured by Mobil 1, I don't see a problem with using it. But I am not an expert

i am surprised they agreed to change the oil at 2,400 miles. your 1st oil change is at 10K miles. well actually you can request an oil change at what ever milage you want.

at that mileage any oil is fine but I would recommend always using a synthetic. ask a 100 people and you'll get a 100 opinions. i use G-OIL bio base synthetic because its made here in the US, approved by API and it works great while helping reduce environmental harm

Owners manual says 10k miles or 1 year...whichever comes first. I have 4,600 miles at just over a year now and will request the oil be changed at the 5,000 mile service next month. I will also have them do the eleventy billion service bulletins and whatever else they can fix while it is there.

7800 at 8 months. so 2200 miles or 4 months for 10K mile oil change.

What the title says. I went back and re-read the repair order receipt and they didn't change the oil. Amazing how two "reasonably intelligent" men can talk to each other and have a completely different understanding of what was said.

In any event, I have to get a safety inspection next month and, at that time, I will make sure I ask for the oil change due to the age of the oil in the crankcase.

I need a drink.....

lol, i can't stop laughing. it wasn't your fault, they (lexus SR) should have been more specific. and your SR is supposed to go over your service invoice and let you know what was done and what wasn't done for whatever reason. don't be so hard on yourself lol... make sure it's only one drink... if you plan on driving...

Yeah, I will be VERY clear with my SR when I tell them I do want the oil changed and I DON'T want them to wash it.

Bet everyone in here $100, that they'll still end up washing it. I need to plan and take it on a day that I know it will rain. They tend to typically not wash vehicles when it's raining.

Mine just turn 42xx miles for one year period.

I hook up the Techstream and run some health check, it come back with the Calibration update available for Air Conditioner and some DTC trouble code B1796 for Occupant detection and B2620 for Tilt & Telescopic.

If I bring the Vehicle diagnostic report to dealer, do they suppose to fix it or they will just ignore and clear the code? The check engine light currently off but I got it on before with different codes.

Any tech here can shred some light about AC calibration update?

That AC calibration is a service campaign. You didn't receive anything from Lexus about it?
Here's the tech doc about it:
