Does anyone know of a way to turn the engine off but keep accessory mode on without having to cycle through off, then back to acc? I've tried double pressing, long pressing, etc to no avail....

 

try keep the car in gear (D), stopped and press the button. it should hopefully shut off the engine but stay in ACC mode. and then you can proceed to push the shifter into P.

Dude, that is brilliant. I sometimes want to turn off the car but leave it in ACC mode too. I was hoping that if I stepped on the brake and pushed the button it would start the engine again but it shut the whole thing off.

 

hope it works. since 06/07 people have had issue with this and the procedure has worked on all those generations. hope it's still the same. i think it's especially useful when you are back in your garage and you want to shut off the car, but want to finish the call on the phone through BT

 

Most push button ignition cars just requires a double tap on the button to go from ON to shut-off/acc mode.

 

This is what I'm used to. I wonder why this isn't the case with the Lexus.

 

It's not?! I haven't got mine yet so I havn't tried it either.

 

if it is like other lexus then it doesn't work. as soon as you press the start button it shuts off

 

Here is how Lexus + Toyota with push button start working:

Engine running + gear at Neutral + button = engine off, ACC on.
Engine running + gear at Neutral + button = engine off, ACC on. Gear still at Neutral if depress the brake + Start button = Engine start.
Engine running + gear at Neutral + button = engine off, ACC on. Shift gear to Park + depress the brake + Start button = All power off.
Engine running + gear at Neutral + button = engine off, ACC on. Shift gear to Park + Start button = All power off.

Option 1 good for people to finish the Bluetooth talking and process to option 3 or 4 to shut off the car completely.
Option 2 good for temporally turn off the engine and start the engine again. Ex: wife running inside while u crank up your music on ML.

Caution: The electronic parking brake may not engage if using any of these options.
