Default Different Woods Inside? Janky

I keep meaning to post this little rant, but what gives with using 2 woods inside? One for the trim, and one for the steering wheel? I'm sure the wheel wood matches some trim wood options, but not the one that came on my 4GS Luxury. My wife's RX350 has matching wood (and the same as what's on my wheel), but I have some sort of upgraded wood yet they don't follow it through to the wheel.

Janky, if you ask me. Especially for a $60k car in 2013.

You wood wheel doesn't match the rest of the trim? Mine does.

I'm wondering if you noticed this before you bought the car? Lexus has always made a big deal out of "using the same tree for all the wood trim in a particular car". All of the cars I've looked at have matched real well.

There have been some complaints on ES and RX cars that the wood on the wheel doesn't match well, all of them to my knowledge have been replaced by Lexus.

Since the linear espresso wood is so dark its hard to believe they wouldn't match...

The wood on my steering wheel matches the wood on my dashboard quite well.

It's funny you bring this topic up because I had a loander 13 ES last week and was surprised/displeased to see that the steering wheel wood did not match the rest of the wood interior trim. My first thought was that Lexus was using real wood for the steering wheel and immitation "wood" for the rest if the trim. Either way, this is unacceptable for a Lexus.

Thats not the case, its that the wood for the wheel and shift **** is constructed in a different manner than that of the dash wood, which makes matching a little tricky.

But they SHOULD match. Like I said, all the cases of it in the ES and RX have been addressed by Lexus if I remember correctly.

So if your wheel in the GS doesn't match, I would absolutely insist on a replacement.

I have Linear Espresso for the trim, and the wood on the wheel is Dark Brown Espresso. Both are wood, but not the same selection.

I bought the car at around 10pm on the last day of the 2012 selling year to get a smoking deal, so this isn't something I'd be able to see too well - or, more accurately, would ever think I need to look out for.

So do people with Linear Espresso have matching wood on the wheel? And do those who have matching wood have Linear Espresso?

I should add that I have a heated steering wheel, in case that matters.

There's no such thing as "dark brown espresso" wood. The only wood option with the luxury package is the linear espresso wood.

Mine all matches.
