So, the GS has been out since February, so many owners probably have close to 10,000 miles on their cars and seem to have had no major issues. The engine is tried and true, but this is a brand new model, so that's quite an accomplishment on Lexus' part. Aside from a couple of niggly electrical gremlins (iPod shutting off occassionally) I have nothing to complain about. I only have 3,800 miles on mine, but it has been rock-solid.
Not quite what I see on the 5 Series and A6 forums. Nice to know we can buy a first year car this great and not have to worry about dependability, but then it is a Lexus.
Actually I've had some problems, and I'm taking her in to get them rectified.
1. The rubbing/grinding noise when turning full circle at low speeds.
2. Transmission feels confused at times. As if it doesn't know to either shift, might be because of the ECO mode and the throttle position at the time.
3. On about 3 different occasions, at a standstill but in drive (at a light or etc..), it acted like it was in neutral just as I was going to take off (not racing, just normal driving), and then the traction control light flickers for a second or 2 and then goes off. Then the car is fine again.

1. I dun have this problem
2. The New GS is known for it's not so refined gearbox. It's normal as sometimes i need to ease the throttle a little so dat it'll change gear.
3. I believe u r on a slope? It sounds like u activated the hill-start assist. If u have the thick Owner's Manual, turn to page 312. But i'm from Singapore ur manual might be different from mine
For mine is vibrations can be felt on the steering & seats when engage in "D" mode. Once shift to "N" or "P" mode vibration gone! Brought back to agent they said it's normal as they tried on their test drive car, it's having the same vibrations.
& forgot to mention the engine is much noiser than previous models of Lexus. Ticking sound can be heard from under the car if u squat down & hear front the front wheel area. If pop bonnet, the ticking sound is even louder! It's like a tick or tuck sound! Other than that it's a very find car to drive! But mine is quite under power as mine is the G250 F Sport. Same body as the 350 but with a 2.5L V6 engine...0-100 8.6 seconds... Yawn....

Interesting observation about #3, Ron. It's in page 277 of the US Owners Manual. It says: ● To engage hill-start assist control, further depress the brake pedal when the vehicle is stopped completely.
● While hill-start assist control is operating, the brakes remain automatically applied
after the driver releases the brake pedal. The stop lights and the high mounted
stoplight turn on.
● Hill-start assist control operates for about 2 seconds after the brake pedal is
released.
I can see how a driver might engage HSA inadvertently. I wonder why Lexus' engineers couldn't use accelerometer data to determine the car's tilt before automatically applying the brakes.
That actually makes sense about the HillStart, as sometimes I might depress it further while stopped. WHO THE ****** THOUGHT OF THAT CRAP! SERIOUSLY! DO LEXUS ENGINEER'S THINK ROBOTS DRIVE THESE THINGS! Anywho, that's my rant. Now I know to monitor my foot pressure on the brake. Oh and everytime I was on a straight and level road. What are these "HILL" thingy's you speak of? We don't have those here in South Florida, unless you live next to a garbage dump.

Ok so for the Ipod thing. I have a 6th gen ipod nano and it has never shut off on me. But when I put my 4th gen in it shuts off quite often actually, (maybe once every couple of days). Has anyone else noticed it only with the older Ipods toss?
