Headlight adjustment help.
Thank-you "terrycs"! After looking at your posted pic and I see where you just slide the Philips down that slotted groove onto the gear. Worked like a champ!

Before I dropped the car I did 6 turns clockwise on both screws on each side because I think Lexus aimed them slightly low from the factory. After the dropped the car with Tanabe, I did another 6 turns. When I'm driving next to a wall on the freeway, the top of the light is now perfectly horizontal. So I might go back a turn or so. I'm very happy with the results.
I think the F Sport sits a little lower from the factory right? I wonder if the factory adjusts these upwards to compensate or we all have this problem because they leave them at the regular GS350 setting.
I need to resurrect an old thread because my GS has the triple beam headlights and I think they adjust differently then the HID cars. I noticed on a youtube video of someone that has a GS-F that the engine plastic has just U-D and R-L listed separately, where on my car there is U-D/R-L and R-L. So did Lexus not spend the extra money on different engine plastics? Am I missing something here, anyone with triple beam headlights that have adjusted theirs? Is it just U-D and turn it clockwise to go up with no R-L adjustment like the HID cars? The owners manual shows "Headlight adjustment for single beam headlights"
Headlight aim can be really annoying to deal with if you don't have a flat floor to work on. The AFS and auto leveling don't make things easier. I would take this one to the dealership and they might not even charge you.
My old IS has adaptive headlights whereas my GS does not. My IS is a 2008 model so not as much technology in it as what is in the GS BUT the instructions to level the headlights were basically the same as standard lights. Its really not hard. You just need a flat surface and a wall that you can put tape on (like a garage door). If you do not have a flat surface with a wall available, you can use a digital level to measure a spot on the vehicle when it is on a flat surface and then replicate this angle by using a jack to raise the backend of the car with the digital level mounted in the exact same place. You might need to do a little bit of math as this will alter where you apply the tape on the wall surface as your car will effectively be sitting lower relative to the wall. This would be the case if you are doing this in your driveway and using the garage door. Inside your garage should be a flat level surface. Anyway, depends how far away the dealership is from your house and how much time you want to put into it. For me, its a 2 hour roundtrip to a dealership plus the time for them to work on the vehicle. Its faster to do it myself. Just take car to make sure the driver side headlight is angled a little lower than the passenger side so as not to blind oncoming traffic.
