Does anybody know if there is a way to use a playlist with a USB audio source (such as a USB memory stick)?

Currently I just use a random shuffle of songs and folders.

If so, what format should be used (m3u, mpl)?

Not quite the solution you had in mind, but I name and number my tracks so they play in the desired order. (I know; not helpful with a 32 Gig library stick.)

 

Sort of:
Instead of playlist you would create folders and name them like you would name your playlist. It's a bit more primitive but it works. (Pg. 457 owner's manual).

But no, you can't create actual playlists.

 

Yeah unfortunately the Playlist feature works with smartphones and MP3 players. It works well with my iPhone and iPod.
