I've looked through the forum and couldn't find anything that points to my specific symptoms. Its a 2013 gs350 base, 170k miles. So whenever the car is at operating temp it won't start again. It starts perfectly normal once it's cooled down usually 2-3 hours or more after turning it off. It has a brand new battery, the alternator is good, and no CEL. It's not overheating and all power comes on like normal if I push the button without the brake but once I go to start it, nothing. No clicking, no noises, just a few seconds of silence. Any help on where to start looking is much appreciated. I don't want to spend hundreds if not thousands on diag / repair costs if I don't have to. Also it it sensing that the keys in the car and ive changed the battery in the fob as well recently.

 

If no clicking (e.g., bad starter) or hx of that, I’d start with:

- checking starter, battery grounds. Check if starter will crank when hot if 12v is applied directly. Starter solenoid may be bad and you may be able to replace that one cheap component and not the whole starter (this is possible on some starters, not all, and I don’t know as I’ve had no problem with them and had to mess w/them yet).

- if there is a common switch/relay issue w/that vehicle, it should be well documented. Try googling “not starting hot _____” your particular y/m/m.

 

99% is likely your Starter gone bad.

 

My starter went out 2 weeks ago. The last time i had the no-start issue was a year ago. Engine started right up after i changed a new starter. 118,000km on mine.
