Recently I noticed that my ‘17 GSF stopped warning me when ever I get close to (front) objects. Note: the rear sensors work fine. So I checked the settings and I noticed that I don’t have the “front” option. See pic.
I swear I had it before; am I going crazy?
Do you guys have any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?
Yes.
As I said, I used to get the warnings, like when I got close to my garage wall. But I recently noticed the car stopped warning me in the front.
The back sensors still work, and as shown in the pic, I can adjust the sensitivity for the back sensors. It’s the front adjustment settings that are missing.
My car still has this issue, and I’m looking for some troubleshooting tips
Have you checked all fuse boxes and looked for any popped fuses? along with actually popping the hood and visually inspecting the sensors or the leads/wires coming from them? I have a Autel MK808 and it gives me the ability to run a complete check of every sensor that is pinged per say and let's you know if something is a miss. If I were you, I would find where those front sensor wires plug into the main body harness and unplug one while the car is one. By doing this it would at least hopefully give you some type of response thru the computer that something has changed and start to give you a direction in which to proceed by factors of elimination. If it just randomly stopped working I would assume something has changed me mechanically or with it's physical hardware and less likely a software issue... Unless some how a configuration was changed unknowingly thru the customs setting menu. If you notice anything out of the ordinary, please let me know and I'll try to help you work through it 👍🏻.
To go off that. At least on the 350, the front sensor plug for all the front sensors is on the driver side when you are taking off the bumper. You should actually be able to reach it by just loosening the driver front wheel liner.
I do know that if you unplug that harness and turn the car ON (doesn't need to start the car) car will complain and you'll see X on all sensors (front and back) in the dash cluster.
Here's the connector when fully removing the bumper. It looks like it's actually supposed doubleside taped somewhere but that's how mine was.
Here's another picture I have from when I first took off the bumper. It does look like you can peel back that fender inner liner and see the sensor wires.
I disconnected the battery for a few minutes, and retested the front sensors by getting close to a wall and the system alerted me.
I don’t know what happened or maybe I am just tripping. But I will say that apparently the GS F only has front corner park aid sensors, because that’s all that shows up on the NAV screen as I was being alerted. (NOTE: I still find it very odd that the setup menu doesn’t allow for sensitivity adjustments to the front sensors, but only the rears)
And I thought the Lexus emblem in the center of the grill also has a park aid sensor (for center coverage), but apparently it’s not equipped on a GS F.
