Default What do front sensors do?

I have two round sensors in my front bumper, I don't have sonar/distance cruise. I have never heard them beep once or seen them do anything. Do they function, are they blanks if you don't have sonar cruise? The rears do detect cars coming from the side when I am backing up or cars in my blind spot and I do have the Park Assist(which I have never used yet but saw that it functions) but I have never seen or heard the fronts do anything like beep if I come up on a car quickly or pull up close to something.

Is sounds like you are describing the parking assist sensors. But there are four of those.

Owners Manual page 240.

I meant 4 up front, when I turned the Parking Assist on it only seemed to work when put in reverse, I did not mess with it much, have not had to parallel park it yet but I was just wondering because the fronts have never made any kind of noise or done anything ever since owning it yet. Maybe if I tried to parallel park they would do something..

If you park in a garage and get the front bumper within a couple feet of the wall the parking sensors should sound off. Also, pulling up close to bushes/shrubs in a parking spot or having people walking close to the front bumpers will cause these parking sensors to alert you as well. I'm really surprised you have not experienced your front parking assist sensors sounding off.

Sounds like your front sensors are busted. My beeps all the time pulling out of garage or people walk close to front of car.

I think they also have a sensitivity or distance setting that you can change...maybe your park assist is set to very low sensitivity/distance.

There are some settings available for Intuitive Parking Assist (IPA) through Techstream and Carista. I don't have them all handy, but I do remember I had the choice to disable the front sensors while in reverse and to mute the beeping after a few seconds. There may be a setting in there to turn off the front sensors. Perhaps a dealer or previous owner turned off the front sensors?

You can set the Intuitive Parking Assist feature's Volume, Display (On/Off) and Alert Distance.

You probably have the Front sensors Display turned Off, or the Alert Distance is set to Close Distance. I suspect the IPA front sensor display is turned Off.

To check and/or make a change do the following:
Menu > Setup > Vehicle > Select 'Park Assist' on the Vehicle Settings screen > #2 Display (On/Off) Note: When the 'Display Off' indicator is turned on, the display of intuitive parking assist will be turned off. Select 'Display Off' again to turn the intuitive parking assist on. (Make sure to Save after changing settings)

Then select #3 Alert Distance Setting and set to the 'long' distance. (Make sure to Save after changing settings)

Do you have the Owners Manual? If so, have you ever looked at it?

I had a malfunctioning sensor when I bought my car that was pushed in slightly...it went off once in bumper-to-bumper traffic as someone cut extremely close in front of me. Dealer fixed it for free on my next service. It frequently goes off in the drive-thru, which is annoying....I had an NX loaner that had a "pause" button on the steering wheel that would silence the PA alert until you started moving again.

In Asia, we have a Park Assist button which turns all of them On or Off, located right beside the Rear Curtain button.

We have the same On/Off switch here in the U.S. The Setup feature is available to fine-tune the volume, distance and whether only one set of sensors (front or rear) is activated. I'm pretty sure you have the same Vehicle Setup feature...

Pushed in... Yup. Im an idiot and accidentally pushed my driver side sensor in while trying to clean the icing off my sensors this evening. Was it a quick and minor thing for the dealership to correct? (I can't think of an easy way to try fix myself. Looking under this hood gives me claustrophobia!)

I don't think it was terribly involved for them to do.

Last night I tried turning the park assist on, reversed, then pulled up close to the garage kind of quick and no beeps or warnings. I went into the menu and found the sub menu for the Park assist and saw where it had 2 orange lights in front illuminated so I figured maybe they don't work. I backed up again just to make sure and pulled up to the garage door again, no beeps but then I kept moving forward until I was really really close and it did beep and gave a warning, went up slower a little more and it did not seem to do anything else other then beep so I guess they work but only when you are really really close to hitting something, like just a few inches which I have not been since owning the car, maybe I need to play around with the setting for it to beep at a longer distance but it doesn't bother me, I actually don't want it constantly beeping all the time, I just wondered if the sensors were functional because up until last night I never heard them go off.

mine are so sensitive that when they first start going off yellow and beeping, I'm still a good couple of feet away from object. I don't get the white bar with red lines (the one that means STOP NOW) until I am just a few inches away.
