After some more research it seems some 5 mm spacers would be needed. Now I feel I am even more out of my wheel house. (No pun intended ).
but almost new tires and rims for $1200 seems pretty good
If it is for winter, stick with 18's. If you are considering all seasons with a square setup, then either 18's or 19's will be fine.
If you are experimenting with random different OEM wheels to fit, you may get lucky here and there.
If you have a Discount Tire/America's Tire near you, I noticed they have some decent 19" (probably 18's too if you want) that would work. Tire wise, 19's you can go 235/40R19 or 245/40R19 all around no issues. Staggered setups are optional, not required.
I myself am seeking a new more aggressive square setup to fit my 2013 AWD lux, which has some really worn out factory 18's. Good enough for the winter season though.
Call 'em wheels, btw. The Rim is the outer or inner most barrel of the wheel.
www.willtheyfit.com lets you play with sizing and experiment if you want to see how things will go, and www.fitmentindustries.com has a huge online fitment gallery to see other GS's with different options installed and working. I myself am researching what it takes to go 255/35R19 square on a mild lowering spring, which will be my "Summer" setup.
Thanks for all the above info and links.
just found someone selling a set of 19” rims off a Camry xse. With 235/40-19. Anyone know for sure if that will work to move to a square setup. Price is definitely good.

seems like just enough difference that it could have an impact. Just not sure how much room there is.

Yeah, you'll likely need spacers as the design of the Camry wheels probably won't clear the GS's bigger calipers. Camry wheels actually came up a few years ago discussed in this thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...s-on-a-gs.html
If you plan to switch gears and just get new set of non OEM wheels, you could also look into some popular aftermarket brands like Niche, Velgen and Vossen. There is an aftermarket wheel thread where everyone has posted their successful setup details with diameter, width, offset, spacers, tire sizes, etc here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...el-thread.html
I read if a person goes to a square set up that a couple of the wheels will have a sunken in look. Anyone have any pics of this?
I don't think a square setup will necessarily create a sunken look. Fellow member @Nunz put 19x9 40et F Sport Forged wheelset with a square setup all around and got a nice flush appearance seen in his pics here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...l#post11358662
I think the sunken look you're mentioning happens with the more "relaxed" wheel profiles and offsets that Lexus vehicles are equipped with from the factory. My 18x8 OEM premium wheels with 45mm offsets look sunken into the wheel well because the wheel is a touch skinny with that offset. Here's a pic of mine where you an see the "sunken" look you're talking about (but IMHO not because of the square setup, but because of the wheel width and conservative offset):
19x9 +60 is going to hit things in the front. Important things.
The sweet spot (not lowered, square setup) for a 19x9 should be around +35 or so. 19x9.5 +40 or so. You can do the math, when folks put on spacers for their 19x8 +45 wheel, they put on a 15mm in front, 20mm rear. Since we need to square , we'll go +15. That means a 19x8 +30 is hitting flush without lowering, as a basic reference. Here's a link to the body of research I have on this topic https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...t?usp=drivesdk

The Forged F-Sport wheels that Nunz and BMGS have are 19x9 +40, not +60. I do not believe a 19x9 +60 will fit on the front of our cars.

@fourthmeal@panyo64 you gentlemen are absolutely correct - i just realized the offsets on the 19x9 OEM Forged wheels I mentioned are actually 40mm (not 60mm) which is why quite a few members were able to run them up front without an issue. I've corrected my post to reflect that detail (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...l#post11291485).
Thank you fellas as I certainly didn't mean to mislead anyone!

I would probably stick with the 19's if I was to go that direction.
