Default Dome light not automatically on when door opened

I thought I noticed the dome light come on in the past after entering the car, but tonight when I opened the driver's door, the light did not come on. The light will work when the button is pressed so the bulb is fine. All courtesy lights are working. I checked the customization options in the manual for this function but there is none that I could find pertinent to automatic function. So, I ask the community, does your 4th Gen GS dome light automatically turn on upon unlocking/entering the vehicle? Thanks in advance.

See if you accidently deselected this button on the dome light. This should affect whether the light is on / off with lock/unlock

If I remember correctly, when you unlock, the dome lights turn on very dim (let's say 10% brightness). Then when you open one of the doors, the dome lights will light up (maybe 75% brightness). Also, the door puddle light of the door you opened will light up.

Out of curiosity, if you open the driver door while car is on, does it complain about the open door? Just wondering if maybe the door sensor may be bad?

But Yea make sure the button for door light is enabled, as mentioned by previous poster.

Josh, that was it and so simple it eluded me. I've had the car for 2 1/2 years now and still learning it's intricacies. If it wasn't for this board, I wouldn't have been able to replace the troublesome water pump myself. The surgery was a success and the info on this board advised me to be sure to order the 2nd generation AISIN pump since the old ones are still being sold.
Looking forward to many years and miles with this wonderful auto. I appreciate the help, thx!!

You asked:
"Out of curiosity, if you open the driver door while car is on, does it complain about the open door? Just wondering if maybe the door sensor may be bad?"

No, it does not. That would rule out the sensor, the problem was "operator error". Thx for chiming in.
