I have been having some issues with my amplifier as of recent. After raining, there has been popping sounds coming from the speakers when the car is off. Following some research, I believe this is due to moisture accumulation near the amp and can possibly be resolved by replacing quarter vent on the passenger side.
As a proactive measure, I would like to know if there are any aftermarket amplifiers that are plug and play and could possibly even improve the sound for our cars.
My car has the same issue, how funny it happened today. Ive tried unpluging the electrical connections, and cleaned them all out with electrical spray. Still no luck! For some reason I dont think the issue is the amplifier, because even the sound when you switch ac fan the little beep is not there.
But its definitely rain moisture thats causing it, but where, thats still a mystery.
Sure, they are generally not hard to find on Ebay. What year is your car?
.....I see in you profile 1999 is that correct?
Wow I still haven't updated my profile yet. 2009 GS 350. Would the ML amp cause any issues with the non-ML speakers? Is the sound quality that much better too?

The ML amp will not work on a non-ML car, totally different system
Moisture is known to accumulate in the area that houses the amplifier, so be sure to check inside the trunk on the passenger side. There is a vent there that helps humidity escape to the outside, so that may need to be replaced. Part No.: 62930-12160. I did this in 10/21 and all went back to normal until yesterday when I picked my car up from Costco for a tire rotation and balance. Now I have no sound, so I went ahead and ordered a used amplifier off of ebay.

I actually checked the amplifier when it was not working for moisture. It was dry! The area was dry! I thought about removing the amplifier and opening it and cleaning out the terminals inside of it, and making sure the amp get sealed. Maybe add a little silicone on the corners and openings.
Because if the amp works when the rain stops and everything drys, then the amp is still good. It might just have a sealing issue, thats allowing moisture to enter. If you buy a used amp it may have the same issues.
I have one of these aliexpress jawns. costs $300-500. I quite like it, except for the fact that the temperature's always stuck at "-1", despite the temperature working. All plug and play aside from the backup camera, which you have to tap into a rca video signal near the passenger door.

Still possible some moisture got in there, I would remove it, take a closer look, and maybe clean. Yes the amplifier still may be good, but from what I have read, they usually go out soon after they start having this issue.
