Default GS460 coolant leak

I was changing the sway bar bushings on my 2008 GS460. I looked up from the bottom and noticed dried pink powder on certain parts of the engine. Not sure where it's coming from currently. The car was from an auction so it sat for about 5 miles. I've topped the coolant off once when i first got it. Is my water pump leaking? Car just rolled to 100k miles

Looking up from sway bar area

Closer to the top of the motor

Looks like water pump to me, you can jump on rockauto.com and purchase an aisan brand for under $90 bucks. On the GS350 ours only last about 90-120k until they go. Some will last longer, some sooner! There are several members who put off replacing the water pump and ended up overheating their engines and warping the cylinder heads. So its always best to replace the water pumps on these cars, even if they do not leak.

I would do a thermostat, idler pulley, and new serpentine belt while your at it.

Thanks. Does anybody have the service manual for the GS460 water pump?

These cars are not difficult to replace the water pump. I couldnt find anything on the GS460, but I did find ls460 which is the same engine as yours.

Definitely looks like the pump. Are you losing coolant?

As suggested I would verify that coolant is definitely being lost, and that it's not just dry residue from the overflow tank.

Thats 100% spewing coolant behind the pulley of the water pump. That pumps, leaking for sure! I made a post many years ago, where coolant would hide behind the pulley and load up the backside of it.

Yeah I had to top the coolant off when i first bought the car, but its been at a consistent level since. Toyota red Long Life. The dried on stuff looks old. Im gonna be keeping an eye on it, but also ordering parts preemptively in the meanwhile.

Found these on Rockauto

And these on eBay. What else should I get?

Also if anybody could link / post the service manual for the water pump and coolant flush, would be great.

Good morning, thanks for the pics, James.
So far I ordered the Aisin water pump & thermostat and a Bando 6PK2100 serpentine belt. Still looking for the idler pulley, would like to get an oem one.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/402763653489
in between these two but I know ebay can be iffy about authenticity of oem parts.

Yeah?? Haha the reason I'm looking for an OEM one is actually due to your thread:

Also got the GS460 service manual PDFs for anyone else that might be interested in the future:

My experience with ebay has been quite decent so far... they sometimes have hard to find 3GS parts and many are willing to ship internationally.
Let us know how the install goes... I'm going to need to do this to my GS450h at some point... interestingly I have no alternator and my AC compressor is electric, so the crank pulley only drives the water pump with 1 tensioner.

I ordered all the parts (Aisin pump, Aisin thermostat, bando belt, and OEM pulley), they should be here next week. Meanwhile deciding on whether to attempt do this myself, have an independent do it, or calling JM Lexus and see how much they will charge for the labor. Also trying to find a PDF for the 2008 GS460 service manual. I have the GS350 if anyone wants.
