Default Toyota mark x 300g

Hi guys newbie here. I own a 2008 Toyota mark x JDM with the 3gr-fse 3.0. I have been considering the supercharge option as some models come out with these from the factory. I also have access to a 2009 2nd gen mark x with the factory 2gr-fse. So my question is surely there is not much difference between the 2 engines apart from being a year apart and 2gr being the bigger engine. I’m sure mounts, maybe transmission would be the same but not sure about the ecu. Easiest option would be to use the 3gr-fse ecu on the 2gr-fse but not sure if there compatible. Or just transplant the 3.5 with its ecu. If anybody knows of a simple solution to this that would be greatly appreciated. I posted here because the mark x 300g is very similar the the Lexus gs300.

The ECU will be different. The 3GR-FSE is only a Direct Injection engine while the 2GR-FSE is both port and direct injection. You would need the ECU from the 2gr if you're planning to swap with the 2gr.

You would be opening a can of worms, swaps like this in the end would cost you a lot more then simply selling your car and buying a car equipped with a 2gr.

Then you can build turbo kit for it, with small turbo and it would be more powerful/cheaper then an oem supercharger setup. A low boost setup 8-10 pounds with twin turbo's, then tune the stock ecu. Better yet buy a gs350 awd and turbo that.

Unfortunately, the 2004-2008 Mark X only comes with the 4gr-fse or the 3gr-fse.

Turbo charge your 3gr hardest part is making custom turbo header/manifolds, and down pipes. Its not rocket science, its not super difficult if you know someone with a tig welder. You can purchase premade exhaust tubes that are in many angles. A whole lot easier then doing a swap, and a lot cheaper. You can start with thailand or china turbos off ebay until you get the car dialed in/tuned properly. Make sure to run a good quality wastegates, boost adjuster, oil lines etc. Once you have everything installed and somewhat running descent take it to a dyno tuner that can tune toyota ecu's.

The reason I was looking for information is that I have been offered a 2009 350s front cut for a reasonable price. But now I’m thinking it will be a bit of a mission swapping in the 2gr-fse with the factory immobiliser and having to sort out the ecu. The performance of the 3gr is adequate it actually performs quite well but don’t we all want a bit more go. Was just thinking exhaust muffler delete, better breathing air filter and a throttle controller to start with. Gs350 awd turbo does sound awesome.

Ok with the price of that half cut, you could turbo charge your engine and make a lot more power. Its reversible, just keep your stock exhaust manifold, and make a custom said.

I just looked up the compression ratio for your engine and it shows it at 11:5 which is way too much for forced induction. You would need to change the pistons or use 2 head gaskets sandwich in between copper spacer.

Yeah no that would be to expensive. Think I might just stick to air filter, exhaust and throttle controller for now. Haven’t even found headers for the mark x either which sux.
