Sorry for being a little late on posting this, but it seems that an open (unencrypted) ECU has been released in Japan.

I caught wind of this from one guy that I follow here in Japan.

Summary... after 3 years Toyota/Lexus has finally released an open ECU.

I started searching for the part and found a few IS and RC owners that have successfully modified the ECU. So far, I think the largest gain that I've seen was about 30rhwp on an RC, but everyone is posting that they are still testing things out.

I have a friend who works for the marketing department of Toyota's Japan R&D department. I already asked him to see if he is able to confirm this or not (I don't know if that falls under his line of work for Toyota).
Either way, this is still great news!
