Default Heated and cooled seat dial cannot turn left or right.

Hello,

I just picked up a used 2011 GS350 and have been checking out all the buttons/features one by one. I tested the driver seat beforehand but mistakenly overlooked the passenger heated and cooled seat controls. The heated and cooled seat dial for the passenger cannot turn left or right, it is currently stuck in position "0". Is it just stuck, or is there a locking mechanism, or some piece behind it preventing it from turning? I used a decent amount of force in case there was grime inside but to no avail.

Any ideas before I take apart the console to see what's behind/preventing the dial from turning?

Thank you,
Hugh

Its supposed to spin freely, maybe liquids got spilled inside it and froze it. Before taking it apart why not try to break it free by spraying a fine mist of electrical cleaner or rubbing alcohol (with a high alcohol level) let it penetrate inside and see if it breaks loose.

Thank you for the tips. Ended up using air compressor and rotating back and forth which ultimately knocked it loose. Spins nice and freely now!

Whilst we are on this thread I have a question on a possible common problem or not and not sure if I was dreaming. I could have sworn halfway through my trip the top half of my seat was searing my back after turning off the heated seats. I twittle the dial quite a few times trying to maybe clean contacts or something to make it stop and eventually it did stop.

Is anyone aware of any common problems that might make the seats heat without the switch on, and more specifically only the top half (back of the seat) of the heating not the bum? Are they prone to a short somewhere that can make this happen, or was I just dreaming do you think?
