I noticed a fault earlier when i plugged the diagnostic but I cleared it and didn't think too much of it. The fault was B1271 ( Combination meter lost coms to gateway ecu). This cant cause my tranny to not work well right?
Wires can have subtle damage. Combination meter is the dash cluster. Toyota Transmissions are very heavy duty. It also looks like this Trans is still used on the Subaru BRZ. Was it driven without fluid for a long time?

Maybe you just damaged the valve body when the pan broke? Internal damage to clutches is very hard to believe on these transmissions.
Usually no fluid wears out the pump, then you would have no forward motion at all. The only thing that could be damaged from the pan (unless you went over a landmine) is the valve body. Possibly a solenoid.

If you install a replacement, and there is still a wiring issue, the problem will come back.

The ECU has the transmission control module in it, so yes a bad ecu communication can give you transmission issues. Was the ECU damaged in any way? If it was, it can be fixed pretty cheap in the US

Default Transmission replaced and am back on the road.

Hi all,
My car is back on the road after replacing the transmission with a used one from a Toyota Mark X. Actually there is plenty of this vehicle in my country and i managed to buy the tranny locally. Its shifting like a a dream. I thought my lexus was exclusive, only to find out that a car I see on the road everyday like a Mark X carries the exact same transmission.
I also found out that the last 4 digits from the type number A960E-B04A which is B04A means the axle type. Which in this case is my rear differential.
My conclusion to the problem with my old tranny is that after the impact while I was on the road, something happened inside the gear that burnt the reverse clutch or band.
Thanks all for the help. Thanks Ibidu1.
Regards.

Yes pbateson, lexus is very rare in Zambia. But other Toyota vehicles on the other hand can take up to about 90% of all vehicles in the country.
