Default gs300 transmission replace

Hi All,
I want to replace the transmission for my 2009 lexus GS 300. The transmission type is A960E-B04A. The problem is i can only find on the market the transmissions with type number A960E-XXXX were the last 4 digits do not match my requirement of B04A. Can a new transmission with last for digits different from what my actual is work on my car?

Thanks.

I don't know what the sub digits mean and google was not helpful. Hopefully someone else knows.

Might also want to post that in a GS Forum - https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...2006-2011-153/

Hi, well I ran over a metal round object at high speed which damaged a number of items at the bottom of vehicle. And immediately I lost my reverse gear and there was a jerk during deceleration. I have been working on it with my mechanic and have not found the problem though we now suspect it's a clutch. I just don't have confidence that we or anyone in my area can make a lasting repair.

I have checked the following with my mechanic and found to be ok.
1. Diagnostic shows no fault. Simulation of P,R,N,D and S all indicate the right solenoid.
2. Check oil level and no ATF leaks.
3. Neutral position sensor ok.
4. All solenoids working.
5. Opened valve body and physically checked if all valves are freely moving. Particularly the reverse sequence valve and B4 check valve. All ok.
And now my conclusion is that the problem is coming from the gear unit on one of the clutches.

See the thing with your vehicle it differs then what the US market has. Your best bet I think, would be to try to find a used transmission that sells your same type of car. If you cant find locally, maybe its better for you to try to buy from a lexus used parts seller in dubai. They sell a ton of used parts pretty cheap, and there not too far from you so that shipping wouldnt cost as much.

Thanks for the info. I will definitely try Dubai. Coz like you said this A960E transmission is not common here.

If you google "uae lexus used parts" click on images, you can see a bunch of business cards. Send them a whatsapp and see, more likely they have that transmission. Because the 2009 GS300 is sold in that market, unlike the US GS350

Also did you check for damages on the ecu (houses transmission module) or maybe transmission harness plugs. Maybe a wire got ripped out. Are you getting any error codes for transmission?

Hi Ibidu1,
They is no errors showing on the diagnostic tool. We tried putting gear in P,R,N,D and S and obversed from the diagnostic. All is normal and you can see solenoids switching on/off.
We also went underneath after removing pan and observed the clicking sound of solenoid to confirm operation. We even measured voltage using a multimeter. What is transmission harness plugs? Do you mean transmission mounts?

What I meant was for the harness electrical plug to not have any broken wires. But more likely if there was a broken wire the ecu will trigger a fault code.

I found some diagrams for the transmission. Also are you 100 positive the fluid level is set correctly, did you go through the gears after dropping the fluid pan, and filling the transmission. With the transmission somewhat warm did you open the dip stick tube? This is very important to have the right level

Also what works in the transmission now? Is it just reverse thats not working? Any forward gears?

If you have the car Crown GRS 180 in your country it uses the same transmission. There are many russian sites that have them for sale and cheap.

Hi Ibidu1,
Forward gears are working well. Smooth acceleration. But they is a jerk while decelerating somewhere around the 3rd gear and no reverse. That's the problem and has been since the incident and even after dropping the pan.
I noticed a fault earlier when i plugged the diagnostic but I cleared it and didn't think too much of it. The fault was B1271 ( Combination meter lost coms to gateway ecu). This cant cause my tranny to not work well right?
