Default Intake and air box

Hello fellow Lexus owners. As I always state, I am no expert when it comes to cars. I just do my research and speak to different people and speak from experience.

I own a 2008 GS 350 AWD

A few months ago I installed an Invidia Q300 exhaust. Sounds beautiful and not too obnoxious because I didn’t take the resonator off. I didn’t because I wanted to keep the quiet cabin that Lexus is known for. I didn’t change headers or anything else yet btw.

Now after doing a lot of research, I still want to make it sound nicer but still not be too obnoxious because that’s not my style. I need to get an intake in my car.

First I am trying to decide between short-ram or cold-air. I know that with most short ram intakes, sometimes there is no HP gain and possibly some HP loss. I really don’t want to lose HP but I’m considering short-ram is because of the stories I’ve heard of what WATER can do when you have a cold air intake.

Also I am considering changing my stock airbox to an F-sport airbox. I hear it does wonders for the car and could possibly maintain any HP loss I would get from a short ram intake.

And if I were to get a cold air intake, I want to get an F-sport intake, but I did some research and some people have said the if I put an F-sport intake, I might lose some of the nice noise I hear from my exhaust. I find that hard to believe but maybe someone can verify it for me.

So remember guys, my goal is to get a nicer sound from the car and not lose and HP if possible. Please correct me on anything I’ve been misinformed of. Thanks club 😉

You won't notice any HP loss, maybe 3-5hp, and most of the max HP is produce in the mid-high RPM. You'll probably notice some sluggish acceleration from heat soak. If you're looking for intake noise, you really have to do some hard acceleration. So unless you plan to gun your car 100% of the time for some intake noise, an intake is not worth it.

+1 for intake being a waste on a GS. Exhaust really is a waste too, but I have two magnaflows--so I can't judge.

the 2gr was designed pretty well, there is just not much you can do, unless maybe you want to supercharge.
