Need help selecting first 3rd Gen GS 350
This is my first post. Joined Club Lexes about 2 weeks ago.
A couple of months ago. I rode with a coworker from Houston to San Antonio and back (about 200 miles each way). I was a little surprised when he showed up in a car instead of the F-150 he normally drives to work. The car was super clean inside and out. It rode very smooth and comfortable. He never drove aggressively, but I could still feel the power and response of the engine while sitting in the passenger seat. The car was a 2008 Lexus GS 350 RWD.
Now I am trying to find a GS 350 to purchase, and need some advice.
1. Are Lexus GS 350's between 2008 and 2011 all close to the same or does one year stand out over the others?
2. I am planning on paying cash. What should I expect to pay for a 2008-2011 GS 350 in very good or great condition?
3. Any advice you feel would help me find a good deal on a 2008-2011 GS 350.

I bought my 2008 GS 350 AWD (my 1st car), January of last year. I Love It! Since it is my first car, I don't have anything else to compare it to. I'm also very green in my knowledge about cars, so I can't offer you much info. I can only address questions 2 & 3:
2. Anywhere between 10-20K. I say 20K as a high, should you find a 2011 model with very low mileage and all the bells & whistles. Average price from what I remember ranged 12-16K.
3. I found mine on AutoTrader.

Hello Renisance, Thanks for your reply. You are a lot closer on prices than what I first thought they would be. I have only looked at 2 cars so far. The first one was a 2008 with 163.000 miles. The car was close to where I live (Houston) and they only wanted $6995.00. The exterior, paint, and wheel looked fine for a 2008 car. The interior was terrible. All the seats were badly worn, the carpet had stains and even a small hole worn in the start button on the dash. The second one was also a 2008, The price was $8500.00. The exterior, paint, and wheel looked fine. The interior was in a lot better shape than the first one. Then I found rust on the back door sills. We have had a couple of bad floods here. So I did not want to take a chance that the car had been flooded. Now I am asking a lot more questions on the phone. I will eventually find one, but it may take longer than I thought it would.
My Mileage standards were very high considering that the car is 11 years old now (10 when I bought it). That's why the prices I gave you are so high. If I'm going to buy a car that is 11 years old, it's gotta have under 100,000 miles. I looked for about 3 months, before I eventually bought mine out of state for a lil more than 14K cash, wit a lil less than 70,000 miles on it.
Look at the facelift thread. If you spot an audio system without a tape teck, it has bluetooth audio streaming (i.e. you can play music instead of just answering calls).
The GS350 is probably the simplest mechanically out of the bunch - vacuum-assisted brakes, AVS is optional (and I wouldn't bother with it - you're in the US, check out FIGS or Fortune Auto, probably other great options as well), no hybrid system (not that it's unreliable, just be prepared to buy a new battery)... Yes, dual injected engine,, but no active elements in the intake tract whatsoever.
Read up on the IS250/350 as well - they share pretty much the same chassis, most of the common "cures" apply. The big front LCA bushings are the most common mod - get GS-F/RC-F ones (hard rubber) or straight polyurethane.
Careful with the throttle, these hide their speed very well

We bought our 2008 GS-350 with 60K miles for $16K back in April 2019. We got it from a dealer and it had a 30 day warranty. There were a few warranty repairs. We also had to pay an additional $1K for some service not covered by the warranty. We have another grand to pay for advisable (but not mandatory) service: new auto transmission fluid and oil for the differentials and a new set of mats.
It is a great car and I hope we get 10 or more years of moderate driving out of it. Maybe 15 more years (which would be 100K more miles).

I found a 2011 GS 350 for sale but have no idea what is in the Option Packages. Is there a place online I can find out what is included in each of the packages listed below? Can I find out what options came in with the VIN number?

well the mistake i made buying mine is not test driving it good enough.. it had issues.. but they told me the car wasnt in good shape at all. And it cost no more than a 2006 camry..
but i kept checking them and ive seen some pristine looking examples listed for pretty cheap.

I bought a 2007 GS350 for $2400, mileage 112k.
Accidented on rear drivers door, I had to change d door and curtain airbags.
Nice ride. My previous was 2008 Mercedes E350 4Matic, this is way better.
Only minus is that whilst I can connect my phone to the sound system via Bluetooth, I cannot play music from my phone to sound on d car stereo.
But lovely car. You should get within $2400- $3500
If you connect your phone via a cable from your phone's headphone jack and the port in the center console, you can play it through CD disk 2, and it'll sound better than if it's through bluetooth (assuming you're playing a pretty high fidelity track).
the AWD is heavier, has more maintenance issues , uses more gas and it sits up higher than a hummer... and if youd like to lower it like alot of us do. Then you get the low speed wobble..
I LOVE THE CAR,. But i would rather have the rear wheel drive..
