Default HELP! - GS460 Driveshaft Coupling Replacement

I have a 2008 GS460 with 95,000 miles (153,000km) on the clock and following a recent service I have been told I am going to need to replace one of the 2 driveshaft couplings that is starting to perish in the next few years.

As I have seen in a previous forum when I ring Toyota/Lexus here in NZ they want $2,500 New Zealand dollars ($1,634 USD) for the entire drive shaft. The coupling cannot be purchased separately and Toyota/Lexus will not even provide a part number for the coupling as it is not sold individually.

I have spent hours and hours looking on Ebay USA, UK and everywhere in between for a GS 460 coupling new or used and again it looks as though I would need to buy an entire driveshaft from a wrecked GS460. Due their only being a handful GS460's in New Zealand and none wrecked (that I can find) I am in a pickle.

After looking at photos online of the coupling I am thinking that the one I need is probably going the same as what was used on the 2006 GS430 Toyota Part Number 37511-30020 (see the photo below).

Can anyone with more knowledge than me let me know if this part will fit my GS460 or would I be wasting my time and money?

Has anyone tried using Part 37511-30020 on their GS460 already and was this successful?

I would appreciate your responses. Thank you!

Its called a guibo, and youre right the dealer doesnt show it is replaceable for your car. Why not take off your guibo, and compare it with the photo. If it doesnt match you can always take it to a driveshaft specialist. Those guys should have a bunch of different sizes from different cars.

As a worst case scenario you can have one custom made from a machine shop. Cut a round piece of aluminum to the same thickness, and have them drill and tap new threads that match up to your axles

This is what it would look like http://collinsadapters.com/index.php...ferential.html

Let us know if you are able to solve this issue so the rest of us GS460 owners have a reference point should we come across this same issue in the future. Good luck.

Did you find a solution? as I am now in the same predicament and paying $1700 for a driveshaft is a no go..

Was going to try this one.

Default Part dimensions

Did you find a correct fit and a part number? Do you have the physical dimensions of part 37511-30020 by any chance as am in same situation needing to replace?

Nope never got one but what I will try is to get one from the wreckers and show everyone the details of what is found.
