Default Thinking of buying 2008 GS460

I've always intrigued with the GS460, have owned 3rd/4th gen GS350, 4th GS450h before, all great power and great handling, but never GS460. Saw an 2008 GS460 with 108K for $13K (is that a good deal?), this will be my "fun" car. But not sure if there are any problems I should be aware of, also, it's an old vehicle so there is not music over bluetooth (my deal breaker sort of).

Any experience with the GS460 would be greatly appreciate.

The electronic brake pump (or whatever the actual name is) is the biggest common failure issue. It's very expensive to fix. otherwise they are considered to be pretty rock solid if well maintained.

As for as streaming bluetooth streaming audio, that is easily added for as cheap as $150 and 30 minutes of your time.

DIY or have to be professional done?

Also what is a good price for this? Hardly any GS460 for comparison?

Is it a little high? Yes, but good luck getting any GS460 in the price range, let alone a clean one. Insurance paid out about the price you listed for my 2006 GS300 with nearly 170k miles. Could be combination of market and availability, but still.

Hard to negotiate since GS460 usually sell fast, it's almost like a cult. How much do you think is fair?

Those who have owned GS460, what makes it so different from GS350 beside the powertrain and 8-speed?

^Adjustable suspension, braking system, speed sensitive steering are the differences that come to mind. As for price, it depends where your region's market, but you're not far off. If you paid $13k the door, thats a fair deal, I know I would be OK with it so long as the car is clean. It's hard to say for sure since its not like you can go to any used car lot and find one. Of course someone will be like "MMR prices are XXXX" or "you can get that at auction for XXXX" but those 1. Aren't the norm and 2. Not available to the average consumer.

Mmr on that lexus is 6900 average with that mileage. This is what dealers go by when they price vehicles, and evaluate them. They normally wouldnt pay much higher unless the car was super clean and demand for it at the time was high. If it was a trade in, this is where they make good profit on, as trade in they would offer the person maybe 6-6200 for it.

For retail on most lexus there isnt much profit in them, as they hold there value very well. The same for toyota's! A dealer will profit 1-2 grand off these cars, unless it was an easy finance car (not to old, and low mileage)

I have an 08 460 w/ 143k on it and it is rock solid. My wife has been on me to get something new (she's just tired of my GS) and i cant part with it because it is so solid. I have owned it since 11 and the only major work was 1-new struts, 2-replaced the touch screen and 3- have had the usual condensation in the headlight. Other than that nothing! I will say this, 108 k seems low but if it is all city driving then that is way different from commuting at interstate speeds. My 142k is about 90% highway (8th gear) speeds thus very low impact on the mechanical systems. I would encourage you to try and assess the details of the 108k miles - if its highway speeds then i would say the price isnt too bad. I would love to know if the computer on board can be interrogated to tell you the breakdown of how much time or miles it has been in each gear.

A clean low mileage GS460 is a unicorn, they sell as fast they pop up, and finding a low mileage documented one that meets your needs wont last long. There is no chance anyone is buying a GS460 that is clean and has documentation for anything less the 13-15K. If anyone can find one for me under 10K, with low miles and one owner and I will buy it.

I was looking for over a year for a 460 and settled on a one owner 50K miles GS430.

I just had a look on CarGuru.com and there are several for sale - one in San Antonio was a good deal with only 95k miles. Have a look.

The one you are looking at has been hit, there’s an accident reported to Carfax.

The others looked to be high mileage amd questionable. Other posters seem to think you can get a clean one owner GS460 for 7-8k, just not seeing it.
