So recently I made the wonderful decision to mess with the settings in my 2006 Lexus Gs430 and got the insert map disc error I assume most of you are familiar with. I reset my ecu, unplugged my battery and to no avail message is still there. I am not willing to take it to a dealer for such a small mistake which costs such a big price I was wondering if a aftermarket NAV system is basically plug n play or if it wont read climate controls etc and it takes rewiring. I am new to this forum and made an account just to ask you guys, I love my lexus have only had it for about a month I really want to continue loving it as much as I had before. I listed 3 pictures below of the after market NAV an OEM NAV and inside of my lex. Would replacing the the whole nav fix this issue? Or will it still hold the memory. Thank you(:
Sounds like you ejected your dvd map, open the glove box you should see a dvd slot with what should be a dvd sticking out of it. If not open the glove box and on the radio go to the setting and look for the eject dvd, if you can not find it theres also a hidden button on the top right corner. Press on that and the dvd should slide out.
If there is a dvd in the player, maybe the dvd disc is bad. You could download one or buy a knock off on ebay with an updated map.
no that is not what i did. I already ejected dvd reinserted in the settings i tried to load a different program so the DVD is useless i can insert it and eject it as many times as I want it does not work. I have the North America disc it is trying to load some random one because i went into "secret" settings i suppose and loaded up a different program from just not thinking and messing around with it so it doesnt load my dvd.
Is your North American disc original or a copy? From what I know the original dvd will over write any other program. The dvd loads a base map and settings and then you can run another dvd to update it.
If you cant figure it out take it to the dealer and pay for an hour or 1/2 hour of diagnosis
