Default Dummy mistake connected battery wrong GS460 2008

Blown end or normal?
I recently purchased 2008 Gs460, needed a couple things and one was it needed a battery.

Bought a new battery and connected it wrong for about a minute. I'm a dummy for that as i never done that ever in my life out of all the times i installed a battery.
Big spark and crackle noise and now nothing turns on besides headlights and couple ceiling lights. No crank at all. I checked fuses in both locations in engine compartment. Found couple blown 10 and 30 for radio and such.

I'm trying to figure out where and which is the main fuse to check? I see the fusible link and i can't tell if the end is blown or just made like that.

I called lexus dealer and they said i would have to replace the whole complete fuse box close to the battery becuase you can't just replace the ALT fuse.

Do i have to change the whole fuse box to get my car going again? Or are there more blown mini fuses that could cause this?

How hard is it to swap the complete fuse box? Or do i just swap the fusible link part?

Any advice appreciated!

Don't listen to the dealer. They are FOS and just want to increase their profit by replacing more than is necessary. More than likely all that you need is one of these.

Thanks for the link.

How hard is it to install that?

Looks simple but i never really worked on a Lexus before.

Also is my main fuse blown in the pic? All other contact points are in tact besides the one in my pic which is closest to 180 amp Alt part of the fuse. Im assuming that its blown in that pic i provided. My eyes aren't that great i had to zoom with cell phone camera and i still can't tell.

That one is in the UAE and shipping is $23. The link I posted above is a few bucks more but with free shipping is actually cheaper.

Towed car to dealership to get inspection and possibly the fuse link fixed.

They quoted me 180$ for part and 3 hour labor bringing total to 630$ For just fuse link replacement.

Does it really take 3 hours to change that out? They also need to change few blade fuses. I just can't picture it taking 3 hours. Sounds like a total rip off to me

Quoted me 850$ to change radiator also.

insanely high in my opinion.

That dealer is out to stiff you! Find a descent mechanic, its not rocket science to replace those items.

I felt your pain about 3 years ago when this happened to me and i had no idea what it was and needed the dealer to replace this fuse link for me. They charged me about what the are quoting you. Prolly a rip off but if you are mechanically inclined, i'm sure its not that hard of a DIY.
Mine failed about a month or so after my alternator failed.

Good Idea to print a p-touch label by the battery area to indicate polarity. I use those stickers for maintenance under the hood.
