Default "Voice activation mode has been canceled" message

Hello all,

Does anyone know how to reset the voice activation? After having the alternator replaced when I press the talk switch that is the message I get through the speaker and the nav screen shows voice activation canceled. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Forgive me for what might sound like a stupid question, but are you briefly pressing the talk switch or are you long-pressing it? I know long-pressing the talk switch will automatically cancel the voice activation function.

Not long pressing. It has only happened recently after having the alternator replaced. I would usually be able to adjust temperature, place a phone call using the voice activation.

Okay - thanks for clarifying. There is a diagnostic feature you can run on your audio system to see if all the buttons on the steering wheel are working, and to check on the status of certain vehicle/infotainment functions. To access it, press and hold the "INFO" button (I believe it's the "INFO" button) and cycle the headlights from "Off" to "Parking" three times (on, off, on, off, on, off). You should then see a screen that looks similar to this:

If nothing out of the ordinary is found, you might have to disconnect one of the battery cables for a few minutes to reset everything.

Great, thanks for the reply. Will check into it.
This happened after the alternator was replaced. I should also mention I have a bootleg nav disc that had updated map info, not a factory one. I don't think that would have mattered though.

No problem! Have you checked fuses related to the infotainment system to see if there are obvious signs of a short/one that is blown?

The bootleg DVD shouldn't matter, as the talk switch also controls the Bluetooth telephony functions. If you wanted a factory one to test with, I have an older one I pulled from my car after I upgraded my DVD. You can have it for free! I literally have no use for it.

I did check the fuses, but I will double check them. I need to make sure I didn't miss one.

Thanks for the DVD offer, I actually have the factory one too, but I got the bootleg one to update the maps. Didn't want to pay the retail that lexus charges for the updated one!

You're welcome! I don't blame you ... My dealer soaked me at around $180 for a new DVD. eBay is a MUCH better alternative ....
