Default a/c question

Hello all,

I have a 2010 GS350, 65,000 miles.
No modifications, no lights on

recently, I have notice the RPMs fluctuating between 500-900. The RPMs will fluctuate back and fort for about 4-5 times and goes back to normal. This happens when the a/c is turned on and car put in drive (car not moving).
During this fluctuation, I can also hear the compressor clicking on/off.
It dose not do it when car is parked or in neutral. This is only a sometimes thing.

I can not find any info or anyone else who with similar issue.

Dose it need to be charged? Could it be compressor/ electrical? The battery is about a year old.

The cars a/c temperature is at 68 on dual position.

Suggestions are very much appreciated!

i have serviced the a/c, it was low. However, this problem still there. A/c compressor clicks few times at starts when car shifted to drive and stops after a few times. Anyone else experience this?

I haven't experienced that problem personally.

It sounds like the compressor is on its way out. Is your AC still ice cold and usual?

If so I wouldn't bother messing with it until it stops working altogether.

I used to get these drops as well, its mainly due to the heat. When its really hot outside, with the car driven a lot, and I come to a stop sign the rpm will drop low. I think the issue has to do with spark plugs and a dirty throttle body. Because after I replaced the plugs and cleaned the TB the problem went away.

How often are these clicks? If it's space out evenly, then it's normal and the compressor is doing its job. If it's every 1-3 seconds, then there is too much freon. But all this also depends on ambient temperature.

car still have the original plugs when I bought the car new and have not replaced them yet. Car has 66k miles on it now. Heat, would make sense I just recently moved from Louisiana to Souther Arizona. The heat here is blustering! Also, it happens intermittently. I’ll pay attention to patterns of when it happens.

Thabks for the feed back!

i have only noticed this clicking on hot days. It is spaced out 1-2 seconds between clicking. Only when starting the car and putting it in drive clicking starts and stops. When the clicking stops, which is not consistent only Happens maybe few
times a week. The service was
done at Toyota dealer and they told me I was low.

I have only noticed this issue on hot days here in AZ. For example, if ambient temp is 88 car’s interior temp readin is about 104 with widows/ sun roof open to vent.

Thank you for your response.
