hello, I have a Lexus GS450h 2006 3rd gen, the car I love, however I have noticed noise when at 40ish, I thought it may be the wheel bearing as when I go round a roundabout right it seems to go, so I checked for play, their was a little on the rear passenger side, so today I spent £300 at halfords to have it replaced, Drove home tonight and the same noise.
the car does not have any problems with pads and disks and tyres are all perfect. I thought after reading threads it could be the muffler valve? But then I coasted the car at 40 while under hybrid battery and still was noise, like a whole in the exhaust.
it is such a horrid drone, and as I have a ill son age 10 whom has my kidney, going to and from hospital un nerves him and me too. I feel sick after £300 waisted and now turn to all of you. I do not have a bottomless amount of money so please if you have known of the same, or had the same please point me to how to correct, as it is our life, and other than towing our caravan and to and from hospital we are lost without our quite smooth car.
thank you in advance
It's very hard to diagnose and noise issue, with or without the car in front of you. It could be a number of things such as drive shaft bearing, trans, rear diff or axles and being that its a hybrid you are now adding electric motor, brake regeneration system in to the mix. I highly recommend having it diagnosed properly by a professional as to not have to keep throwing parts at it and wasting more money. Other things to check is putting it into neutral and seeing if the noise goes away. Finding a smooth road surface or if possible grass to eliminate tire noise. Also the other wheel bearings could be going out and not have play in them yet. Does the noise get louder with speed increase?
Ya your best bet is to find a small independant garage and have him test drive the car and see where the noise is coming from. Does the noise come on all the time when you drive? Maybe if you video taped the noise we can help you better with it. But like Silentm said its hard to pin point whats going on.
