Default 2008 Replacement Headlight assembly

Looking to replace a drivers side headlight assembly on 08 GS460. Dont really want to spend $1400 at Lexus dealer and those that I have seen on craigslist/ebay all look pretty well beat up or damaged. Any suggestions for a resource would be appreciated.
As last resort - i recall a thread a few years ago about how to disassemble and rebuild a headlight unit - it required some heating in the oven to separate the lens cover - i wasnt able to locate this thread on the site - if anyone knows its location pls send me the link or subject title and i will search again.

On mylparts with the club lexus discount code you can get a new assembly for around $950 new, still expensive but better than $1400. The sylvania headlight restoration kit is also very good and I've used it with like new results that lasts for a long time and that's only $15-20

Have you tried local auto wreckers?

I am not familiar with the sylvania kit. The issue i have with the headlight unit is some discoloration on the inside of the lens. I had a moisture problem that ultimately killed my ballast and when i took the headlight unit out of the car and turned it over a bunch of rusty water sloshed around in the lens area discoloring the inside. I got the new ballast in and it works fine but i cant get to the inside of the sealed unit to wipe our the remnants of the rusty water. As i said in my original email, i had seen a post in the past where someone had a similar problem and actually put the headlight in their kitchen oven to heat it up so he could separate the lens from the housing to get access. He then somehow resealed it and reinstalled it in the GS. Would like to find that post but havent been able to find it.
