Infiniti M35 vs Lexus GS350
Considering a move to an 08 GS 350 (currently in an 06 GS300). I feel I should consider the M35 as well. In a side by side comparison, what would I find (price, performance, features, reliability, audio quality, ride, noise, build quality, interior quality, etc.)? I like the exterior design of the Lexus a bit better, but not enough to tip the scales if the M offers other interesting advantages.
Thanks for your help.

he means m35. the 6cyl version.
I think the m35 dash looks like it belongs in a boat or the star trek mothership.
And the sucky gas mileage from the M35 will make up for any price difference in the long run.
The last I checked, you couldn't get a 12-13% discount on an infiniti.
So after haggling, the LExus should come out cheaper.

A cheaper lexus is a no brainer. Infiniti doesnt have the curb appeal of a lexus. The exterior of the M isn't much to be excited about....expecially when parked next to a 3GS.

The exterior of GS looks much more refined. The dash in the M is terrible as someone else mentioned above. You do get a 60K warranty with the M. Overall, lexus hands down.

Our Comparisons
We looked at the Infiniti G35 and M35 before we decided on the Lexus GS350. The G35 was nice but a bit smaller then what we wanted. Interior noise level was high as well. We drove the M35 sport and it was a nice car. It has a bit sportier feel than the Lexus GS350. It also has more headroom-Almost too much. (Tall Roofline) We had almost settled on buying one until we checked out the Lexus GS. There were a few things that turned us away from the Infiniti M35:
Build quality, fitment and feel not quite as good as the Lexus GS.
No daytime running lights.
Doors don't automatically lock/unlock.
No rain sensing windshield wipers.
Interior noise level higher then the GS350.
Dash design way too busy.
Fuel mileage poor compared to the GS350.
2 Different Infiniti dealer's sales department's were not on the ball to say the least.
Less margin between MSRP and invoice=Higher price on M35 over the Lexus GS350.

Initially I was for M35 aswell, liked the performance but could not stand the exhaust noise, ended with GS350 instead.
The main reason is that a friend of mine bought a M35, and within a week it died on the freeway. Also my family used to owned Infiniti (Q45, I30, G20) all of the computer died right after the warranty expired.
Therefore, I would pick(ed) GS350 over M35!!!

As for which I would own...I obviously like Infiniti's. I like the M35/45 cars cause they are peppy and handle better than Lexus cars. When it was time for my most recent car purchase, it was hard to let go of the G35 but Lexus fit/finish and style won out for me. The M35 I looked at was nice and the price was right but the GS350 just looks and feels better. I figured the handling would match the M after I did my mod thing. I don't regret my choice but either would have been great. As always, the advice is to drive both, kick the tires, run your hands along the surfaces...you'll know which to get.

Both are great cars. I think with the GS 350 simply is the better car now with the updated engine and 6 speed tranny.
M35s have very attractive $399 lease deals, it is a lot of car for the money. Interior room is larger.
The details on the GS are just amazing and well thought out in comparison to the M35. However, make no mistake about it, the M35 is a great car as well.

I test drove the M35 (and the 07 G35) before made the purchase of GS350. I love how the M35 drives and I actually like the M35's interior more!
I ended up getting the GS350 with no regrets at all. The GS350 exterior looks far more sexier than the M35 (personally I don't like the narrow/tall stance on any vehicles, i.e., current Infiniti M35 and last G35 sedan, Lexus GX, Toyota Corolla, etc.) GS350 also has horsepower advantage over the 07 M35 (not sure about the 08 M35) and another important fact is the Lexus dealer is only 5 miles down the street vs. 28 miles for Infiniti.
slk_dds made a comment about the M35 exhaust noise. I purchased the HKS because the GS350 is too quiet I know it defeats the purpose of owning an upscale Lexus but well... I also wish the G350 has a bit longer rear seat leg room.

I, as well, test drove and considered M35x and G35x before I purchased the GS350 AWD. To me, the G was just too small and too "raw", didn't like the fit and finish either. As far as the M35x goes, it handles better, and has beautiful design both on the inside and outside. A few small things that I didn't like about it are the rosewood interior, orange lighting inside, and similarly equipped options wise, the M35x MSRP is a little bit higher. In addition, local Infiniti dealership doesn't feel as welcome as the Lexus dealership. It's the whole customer experience.
