for almost two years my GS460s steering wheel has been off center while driving, not major but certainly noticeable, i have to have my steering wheel slightly to the left to go straight, which is quite annoying. If I make it straight the car will go to the right. If I let go of the steering wheel the car doesn't seem to pull either way but it seems to default to being slightly to the left. I've had Lexus do two alignments and another place do one and it hasn't changed it at all so I really don't wanna pay for that anymore. I've been told my suspension is all in great shape and I really don't know what else it would be. Wondering if someone here can help me out, I'll probably bring it to lexus at some point in the future and explain it to them.

 

While alignment is done did they keep the steering wheel centered keeping it from any movement?

 

 

Check your tire pressure you may have a tire thats low on air, that will give you a offset steering wheel

 

It's done this with 3 different sets ignore tires, so I don't think it's a tire issue

 

If your cars high mile or you live in a city with bad roads. Your lower control arm rear bushing maybe bad. Its a huge bushing, and thankfully the part is pretty cheap and easy to replace, but you will need to do an alignment after you install them

Interesting, because this has happened to both my 3GS and 4GS.
On the other hand, my old 2IS is perfectly on-center.

 

Yes, car is at almost 191k now but has done this since probably 155k or so, I'm going to ask next time I bring it in to look at those bushings, that seems like something that could've been overlooked

 

By sight mine looked fine with no serious cracking but once I put the new bushing and aligned the car the car stopped tracking and wondering.

Also at that amount of mileage on your car I would replace the majority of the bushings and shocks while youre at it, if you plan on keeping the car so you do not chew through tires.

 

Theres a TSB regarding that issue. Its a old one and I'm sorry but I can't recall exactly but It refers to a special tool/computer that sets the steering angle. So tire alignment isn't the issue and it has to be done at the dealer. But even my dealer missed it the first time. I came back with the TSB in hand and then they corrected it in minutes.

I would bet you're having the same issue. Search GS TSBs and you should find what Im talking about.

 

I had the same issue, turned out my front left strut collapsed a couple days ago. Original struts with 211k miles on em. Had em replaced this morning
