my experience, car fax comes clean because no one reported it. probably fixed the body damage and repaint my quarter panel and paid cash after an accident. the back bumper was off colored when I bought the car at night time -_-. end up repainting it later. friend who owns the paint shop used the paint color code and the bumper did not match the quarter panel. my friend end up having to blend a custom color to make the bumper and quarter panel transition better visually.
it comes down to your preference if you want a 4th gen or 3rd gen. I picked the third gen because it tries to keep the trend of the previous generations (the pair headlighting and fog lights in the front and the rear has the circular tail light pair.
but yeah personally would not get that car knowing it has body damage even though it has be repaired. paint may be different company (different quality and base) and have less coats compared to the manufacturer.
I decided not to get that particular one even though it was tempting being a one owner fully loaded (ML, nav) and low miles black on black.
But not with that previous damage and price.
also, i haven't test drove one.
Being over 6ft tall, would i be comfortable in a gs350? I like roomy interior and would not last too long in a cramped interior.

GS is a driver car, really comfy front seat and driving experiences is really good, BUT not much room for rear passenger, (seriously i felt like the rear seat leg room for a Toyota coroola has more rear leg room)
You must be an absolute masochist to want a black car here.
I have one (it wasn't my fault). It's torture to get in it in the summer time.
Light colored car - very hot, no doubt, but not nearly as bad as the black car.

When I approach my car on really hot days I press the unlock button and twice I hold it down. This lowers all the windows and cracks open the sunroof allowing the hot air to escape and cooling the interior quickly.

Yeah, I do something like that too, even it's the old fashioned way - walk around and open all the doors for 30 seconds or so.
The oven flows out and up, letting that nice cool 110 F afternoon air in to replace it...
White car - goes from bad to bearable.
Black car - steering wheel and seats still too hot to touch without some pain.
It takes a noticeably longer trip for the AC to cool down all the materials so it's not radiating on you.
Anyway - my take on black cars in the desert southwest. 'Nuff said.
