Latest on replacing runflats on 2006
What us the latest wisdom on changing out the run flats? I'm looking at Continental Purecontact With Ecoplus Technology?

The latest wisdom is the same as it's always been: if you want your car to be harsh, loud and generally uncomfortable, run flats are the best tires for you. If you're an individual who is sane and rational, switch to normal tires as soon as possible

Get rid of the run flats asap!! I had the conti purecontact with ecoplus...they were ok, but nothing compared to Pilot super sports. Then again, it depends on what you want from your car. If you want better mpg the ecoplus did provide me with 1 mpg better than the PSS. I feel like the PSS ride quieter than the continentals. SO, overall you can repeat my mistakes and go through a set of conti's or just go for the PSS and call it a day.

I hated the run flats. Once they wore out on my 2008 GS350 AWD, I went with the Continental ContiExtremeContact DWS (2 sets) and now just 2 weeks ago put the Continental PureContact tires on. Like them so far. Pretty good. Car is driving better. I should note i have 192k miles on the vehicle. LOL. A lot of driving in Chicago. :-)

Thanks for the clarification. Also, "replacing runflats" does not inherently imply switching to normal tires – it's completely possible to replace them with another set of runflats. If you just want recommendations on a new set of normal tires, why bring up runflats at all?
It's hard to answer your question without knowing a couple details. First, what are your priorities in terms of comfort, handling/grip, and treadlife? Also, do you need all-season tires, or do you want summer tires?

New Tire Idea, and a steal for the quality
I actually liked my Dunlop Runflats in 17". They are expensive and yes very stiff. I went to Continental DWS based on advice on this forum. They ride much better but I will say they are way softer. The first time I did a fast lane change with them the car was slow to react. With Runflats it is like a go cart, I turned the wheel and it seemed like I counted to two before the car moved. Once used to them I loved them.
I went out on a limb and purchased BFGoodrich G Force Comp 2 all season. Highly recommended by Tire Rack. Wow is all I can say. Very responsive tire, way better than the continental DWS and also a good ride, just a bit firmer. To me they are perfect on the GS. I have had them for about a year now and they still look new.
The price is a steal and BF Goodrich is now owned by Michelin and I think the engineering reflects this.
I have some ot the Continental ECO ones on my Mini Van, very soft you will hate them on a GS if you value road handling. If you want to turn it into your Dad's Cadillac then a good choice.
