Second time this has happened..
I'm driving home from work today, this guy in an impala keeps tailing me so I speed up around a curve up to about 85-90, get a noise in the front right and then a dragging noise, get home and the passenger fender liner is hanging and shredded, now this exact same thing happened to me last fall except it took the under engine shield off with it, had lexus replace both. Am I right in thinking this shouldn't just come off regardless of how fast you're going? I told lexus they changed this a few months ago and they said I had to have run something over and said they wouldn't pay for it -_- it's annoying how much they cost too.
Mine came off in a snow storm, luckily, or unlickily, it was just the panel youpull down to change the oil filter. I was going to replace the whole thing, but guess if it's going to happen again, I'll just wait for the entire thing to come off ha. It could be, if the 460 is like the 300, whoever changed the filter didn't reattach the panel correctly
Nope, they definitely shouldn't come off at 90. I drive at around that speed regularly (I often drive late at night) and I've driven quite a bit faster, and I haven't lost an underbody panel or fender liner yet
If I had to guess (I don't, but I will anyway) the tech who put the engine under cover and fender liner on last fall didn't fasten the fender liner correctly. If you lost the under cover again as well, the "you must've hit something" line would make sense (for example, you scraped the under cover, damaged a couple fasteners, and then that came off at 90 and took the fender liner with it). Does anyone else drive your car?
Also, maybe the impala driver just wanted to catch up and warn you that your fender liner was about to fly off?
