Exclamation 2006 GS300 AWD Drivers side headlight assembly

Hello "Lexus Enthusiasts",

I have a 2006 GS 300 AWD sedan. About 2 months ago I very gently slid on snow into the back of another car. My front left bumper nudged the car enough to scratch the bumper and there's a tiny crack. About a week later the main HID headlight went out. I replaced it with a new OEM Phillips bulb, but it still wasn't working. I noticed moisture start to accumulate and have taken it to 4-5 different auto repair shops. They have all said the same thing that there's probably a crack in the seal or headlight assembly itself. The Daytime running light still works as well, it's just the main HID bulb that won't work.

My question is, in order to avoid buying a new $1,350 drivers side assembly, does anyone have any ideas on how to find a used assembly or know of someone who has one? I am also open to Used assemblies but cannot find an OEM certified assembly ANYWHERE online or around Minnesota where I'm from.

Not expecting much luck on an answer, but figured it couldn't hurt to try. Any feedback is appreciated greatly.

Thanks,
Connor

I have been looking on Ebay a bit. The problem is buying a used one from a non-certified seller can be a bit sketchy. Even if I find a used assembly I have no idea what condition the ballast, bulbs, and housing itself are in...

On MYLparts with the club Lexus code I believe you can get a new oem headlight for just under $900, still expensive but not as bad as $1300, i live in Minnesota too, perhaps see if a junkyard has a GS? I believe any year GS headlights are all the same.

If you are a DIY person, for what its worth. The ballast and bulb are not expensive to replace. So you shouldn't worry about the functionality of a used headlight on ebay.

Considering you're SOMEWHAT of a DIY person, the ballast is from to 60 dollars on ebay (depending on which ones you get). They will fit the OEM system, you just need to know how to take apart the headlight. The bulb should be no more than maybe $90 for an affordable pair of HIDs.

That combined with a used headlight should cost you no more than $600 if you need to replace the ballasts and other components.

Otherwise, I just ran across an ebay listing for a NEW headlight for ~$340.

I will send you a PM to the link.

club Lexus code is CL5, you can enter it when you start the checkout process. I'm about to order some new interior pieces from them at a nice discount.

Snkepit: what year do you have the assemblies for and how did you acquire them? Can you give me some more details and message me privately?

Thanks,
Connor
