Default Amber delete? Anyone?

Hello 3GS owners,

I hate the amber reflectors on my headlights and have been searching tons of threads on CL but found nothing. I'm surprised that no one here bother about those ugly ambers. I searched in BMW 1-series forum and this is what i came up to. Please let me know what you think. And what is your suggested solution?

Amber covered by mirror chrome vinyl

Measuring the vinyl to perfectly fit the amber is PITA. Took me 3 hours

I also wrapped the rear valance with satin black vinyl after visiting G37 forum. 1 more hour for this

Looks different. I personally don't mind amber. Did you have to disassemble the headlights to get in there?

i'm also not a fan of the amber. clear makes the car look more modern. the taillights have no amber lenses, the fronts shouldn't either!

but to answer your question.. it's because most people don't want to go through the hassle of removing the headlights, disassembling it, & resealing them just to take the amber piece off or adding vinyl over it.. it's tedious work

seems to me you have it done on the outside of the headlights.. good job!

Yeah, I just measured the vinyl and applied it outside of the headlights. Just bought the car 6-months ago and I wouldn't want to take the risk of breaking the headlights. Btw, I can visualize the drawbacks of this. The vinyl will get old and discolored overtime, especially in hot and sunny weather, making it noticeable. Maybe I can cover the headlights with 3M clear bra protection or I have to learn to love the amber like everyone else.

I, too, like the ambers. Keep them! Looks kind of cheap without them, IMO :/ But hey, to each their own

Nice work OP way cleaner. Laminex makes a clear film you can wrap the entire headlight with to protect that.
