Water pump/ Cat converters and other items
Hey guys. Haven't been on here in a while, and wanted to share recent work I've done and the result after. I had my water pump replaced (read some horror stories here and since my car is near 80K miles saw it fit to take as a precaution -- bought the Aisin pump off ebay -- actually about $20 cheaper on Rockauto after I bought mine ) Also had the thermostat, housing and idler pulley replaced as well with the pump installation. Decided to have all 4 brakes done since the dealer messed up when "cleaning" them when I dropped my car off for one of their "special" service offers -- what a joke. And also needed an oil change. I was having this clunking sound as well in my engine bay which ended up being a serpentine belt wearing away, and my mechanic also found both my cats were leaking -- passenger side had a hole, and driver's side had a small leak he offered to sleeve, but I opted for a new replacement. All-in the work ran me $1850 w/ tax. I must say the car is super quiet and drives a hell of a lot better than it had the past 2 months. Thought I'd share. By the way, no engine codes were being thrown for the worn away catalytic converter(s) if anyone is curious, but the performance now is night and day. Much better response when hitting the accelerator and smoother and quieter idle.
