Default Has anybody had to replace front wheel bearings?

I'm getting a whirring type hollow noise from the front left drive side in my 08 awd gs 350 the sound Is hard to explain. I also have a slight vibration in the steering wheel at and around 60 to 70 mph. What could be wrong?

Sounds like maybe your dust shield is rubbing the disc rotor, you can take off the tire and inspect it. You can grab a flat screwdriver and gently pry it away, if it is close. This is what happened to my 08 awd.

But to see if its a wheel bearing or not when you hear the sound while driving slightly turn the wheel in any direction. If one side has the sound and other does not that maybe a bad wheel bearing, if noise is on both side most likely not.

As far as vibrations take the car to a wheel shop and tell them you have a vibration and to balance and inspect the front tires. You may have a slightly bent rim or just out of balance.

I had the luxury to do this job about 3 weeks ago and it was a breeze. You'll need a 17mm socket to remove the caliper bolts, 10mm to break the rotor free. 17mm to drop the outer tie rod, 30mm 12 point socket for the bearing and I can't recall the size for the dust shield. Torque specs are around 51ft If you have all the correct tools, should take about an hour. Mine failed about 137k

Actually, the dust shield bolts are 17 also. 4 of them. They blend in with the caliper bolts just don't get them confused
