I concur , they're almost 400lb heavier than coupe. And my 60ft has improved since the 20's are half the weight of the stock 18's

I think the M3 would win here, or at least be a close match. Curb weight would play a bigger role along with gearing for each car since the power numbers seem identical. Good luck and have fun

I am sorry to **** on your party, but there is no way in heaven or hell.. you will be able to put up with an E46 M3.
And with a 7 speed SMG??? He'll eat you alive in all gears!

I agree...I think the M3 will squeak by. I'm assuming this is a 1/4 race? That SMG M3 is geared for that...I think they consistently hit 13-13.2 in the quarter...maybe a tick higher for the vert...

I raced an E46 M3 in my GS460 and I had absolutely no chance! He was gone with the wind... mind you, I have 8 speed tranny and still couldn't keep up!

That High revving M3 engine is designed for performance, not ours!

I would agree with designo, IMO, little to no chance the GS keeps up.

However, POST A VIDEO!

Allow me to share my experiences please:

I used to own an E39 M5, and from a dig the E46 M3 would always keep up with me and sometimes even slightlypull due to it's weight advantage. And remember, my car was an M5!

Now look at this video, my GS460 was supercharged here and I tested against an M5 same as mine. Look at the results and decide for yourself if a GS430 can keep up with an M3.

I think the M3 will pull him, but not by much. Motor trend has the smg m3 vert at 13.4 1/4 time. I think if it was a crap driver and a good driver in the gs, the GS may have a shot.

Man....i just realized it's a 430...was thinking 460...you can say goodnight on this race...that's a loss...430 is about the same as the 350...except at the end the 430 will start to pull away...

He will most likely take you at the track if he can drive his car. If not it should be close with him slightly edging you out in the 1/4 mile. Highway on the other hand pretty sure a stock gs430 would start walking the drop top m3 100+mph.

I have a 02 gs430 with headers intake and exhaust. I have pulled on m3's before on the highway. Our v8s really shine on highway pulls
