The symptoms that you describe are most likely related to hydraulic issues and not the rear calipers. Even if the rear calipers have issues the car will stop pretty well. A soft pedal issue needs to be checked by a qualified mechanic. I have replaced rear calipers on my GS350 because of frozen caliper pins and my car stopped pretty well, but wore out front pads much quicker as they were doing much of the work. The brake system on the GS is not overly complicated, but it needs to be maintained by someone that understands how to manage the computer control system.

ok if you have ruled out calipers (which was the fault with mine) then it could be that the ABS module as air in it this can happen if the fluid is emptied through leak or bad bleeding practice.
The procedure is to activate the ABS whilst bleeding with the Techstream only way to get air out of ABS Module

DOT 3 or higher. Doesn't have to be Toyota fluid. You're better off buying new or already remanned calipers
Well i agree with you, but it was something i read somewhere on these forums so yea not taking it into speculation . What do you mean by remanned calipers? As in taking it apart myself and relubbing everything myself? Is there a DIY for it?

I am thinking that he means getting a set of rebuilt calipers. That is what I did when my caliper pins on my rear brakes froze up.

Well before I messed up the brake fluid job, and i went to the mechanics referred to by dad. They said it was perfectly fine.... which seems kind of weird. But the brakes do work when i want them too such as sudden stops it would stop if asked too but it still feels kind of unsafe at most so i'm not exactly sure if its toyota/lexus cars in general. My new 2015 Sienna's brakes are sort of the same, or it just has a lot of play in the brake pedal. I should have bought some new calipers on cyber monday... Do you guys recommend any from Advance Auto Parts?? such as ; remanufactured , Beck/Arnley ,World Brake Sources
