Question Brake Caliper and Line Issue

I'm planning on removing all 4 calipers on my car and sending them off for powder coating (since I'll be travelling for the next 2 weeks).

Now the car will be jacked up on stands for a minimum of 2 weeks without any calipers installed.

So here is where I face the issue. Once I have the calipers removed what is the best way to hold the fluid in the brake lines?

So far the best option I have found is to crimp the brake lines while the calipers are off.

Now since the calipers will be off for 2~3 weeks I hope no air gets into the brake system.

I plan to install new brake lines once I install the new calipers so I'm not too worried about damaging my OEM lines while crimping them.

I was thinking of using something like this to close the brake lines for 2~3 weeks:

Can anyone give me any better ideas as to how I can go about doing this safely and easily?

What you are showing there will work just fine, you will want to use the smallest pair of this crimp pliers that they make. Another option is simply a set of needle nose vise grips. If you are replacing the lines anyways its no harm no foul. Your only foul is to keep the system from leaking down while the calipers are off. Frankly, I am fairly certain that if you used the proper pair of line pliers you would not need to replace the hoses at all.

Why not just let it leak all out then refill and bleed your brakes later? I know your car is new...but 2-3 bottles of brake fluid is CHEAP. Even if you're in KSA.

Thanks for the feedback,

Well I asked a friend if I could just let it all leak out and keep it dry while I wait for the callipers, he advised against that, pointing out that the brake system is linked up with the ABS and a bunch of other stuff which "could" get messed up if left dry for a long period.

I'm planning on getting a BMW mechanic to help me with installing everything back up again, he has installed BBKs on my previous car and didn't have any issues so I'll be taking some advice from him while putting everything back together again.

Buy some threaded caps....

or better rubber vacuum caps that will slide over ...

Really no reason to crimp or let it leak out..

I think I would have to bleed the system after, I just don't want to leave it all dry or bled out for 3 weeks or however long it'll take

How do you plan to powder coat the calipers when Brembo and Lexus both say to never remove the pistons from the calipers?

There's no need to remove the pistons from the caliper.

I send my calipers to some guy I know in the states who does all my powder coating.

On my previous calipers he didn't remove the pistons, just masked the inside of the caliper and everything was good to go.

Well all 4 calipers are removed and managed to crimp the brake lines with no leaking.

Does anyone know the part numbers to the oem brake lines are? Front and rear?

All I can find in swell are these but they don't look like them: http://is.sewellparts.com/oem-catalo...-ISF-2012.html

Front brake line - 90947-02F81

Rear brake line - 90947-02F82

For some reason, they can't be found on Sewell's site, but I got these numbers from a Toyota parts website and when I Google them I get prices from other Lexus dealers.

This vacuum caps that Joe Z recommended are only a couple of dollars. Way cheaper then new lines! They could have been found at any auto part store. Either way its done. Post some pictures of the finished product when you get them back.

What color did you do them in?

Thanks for the part number Lobuxracer

I want to just replace my oem lines to be on the safe side in case they were damaged in anyway.

I want to keep the color a secret for now lol.

I will post pics for sure once they're done.
