Default Transmission fluid change

I have 92K miles on my 2008 GS 350.

Never have had this service completed.

Is it time now that I am approaching 100K miles?

Should I expect approx $300 charge at the Lexus dealership?

read this Blackstone lab report on his tranny fluid. I would say 80,000 miles is the time to do it. you are definitely ready. $200-$300 seems like going rate

Looking to do the same next service. Currently have 84k on the odometer. Will the dealer replace all 12 quarts for $200-300? Would you also recommend replacing the differential oil also?

The fluid is around $8 a quart so $100-$200 labor is plenty for this job

I'm not sure about the 3GS, but on most cars it's recommended to change the tranny fluid at 60k miles and then every 30k after that. I would definitely go ahead and change it out. Not sure how much the dealer will charge, but doing a drain and fill yourself isn't too difficult. If the diff fluid has never been changed I would go ahead and replace that too personally.

These cars have WS fluid and claim it is life time. A drain and fill is not easy on these cars as the WS fluid expands as heated. The top off procedure is rather difficult unless you just measure what came out and put that back in assuming the original level was correct

This is mostly BS they make it sound like it is difficult but it's not. I've had my fluid changed twice already and it's like a $60 - $80 job to drain and fill, once done at Toyota and once at an independent... neither time have I had any issues.

I did it at 55,000 miles and again at 70... bought it at 55 5 years ago and it has 70 now.

I have actually done it, and it is tricky. If you have not done it yourself, maybe you should try it and then comment.

The drain/fill in itself is not difficult but making sure the right amount of fluid is put back in can be.

That's the part that's difficult. I had a tech at a very reputable shop tell me that he has done follow up check and one of the biggest mistake that people and some shops as well don't make sure the car is level during the fill and check part.

Mine was about $130 at the toyota dealer. Drain/fill to get a couple quarts out. I just did it two months in a row to get more out

I questioned my Lexus service advisor on this. Here is his reply:

Lexus never suggests a transmission fluid change - it's for lifetime. It's really up to the customer. However, we do recommend a rear diff fluid change for $130.

What do you guys think on his reply? And what exactly is rear diff fluid change compared to tranny fluid change?
