So I have noticed since buying the car that when it starts up from not being driven a day or two, the RPM kicks up hard to 2000 and then comes down to 1.1k or nearly 1k within a second of start up. Then it GOES BACK UP slowly to about 1.4k and then the needle comes down slowly but surely to 1k or under depending on how long I idle for...
I have never seen a benz bmw or audi do this so I'm curious... Why does the engine hit 2k upon cranking then drop to 1k then increase upward. Shouldn't it just start up hit 2k and go down from there as the oil circulates and engine warms up...?
Just wondering / concerned if this is normal. Thank you all!
ok thanks.
Have you done the timing belt on it yet?
IF yes, how much did parts / labor cost you?
for parts, got it from sewell lexus, one of the cheapest. labor, well my mechanic labor is discount rate...so it would b different. but to give you an idea, labor on timing belt + water pump on my GX last time was $250. parts about 300 or smthing i believe.

that's amazing. here in toronto, Canada - I would be looking at double the cost for parts and labor -_-
