Whenever I am at the dealership service, I get the sense that they just don't want anyone fixing up their Lexus, but just in case you are crazy enough to ask they have a pie in the sky price to scare you.

My '08 GS350 AWD does similar things, but it's the memory settings that it never goes back to.

I never thought something so minuscule, could be so damned annoying!

Mine does the Reverse Lower of the mirrors just fine, but when I drop it into Drive, the side mirrors don't go back to my 'Saved Setting'. I thought I was crazy at first, but nope. Happens just about every time.

I have a feeling this issue is something to do with the Memory Setting somewhere, not necessarily the mirror itself, as it seems to work just fine on the Auto Reverse Lower front.

Also, my seat stays in the Memory Setting, it's only the mirrors that are fudging with me... Anyone else having the same issues? Seats stay in memory, but mirrors don't. (mine stay really high, like I can't see the road, high)

I had an RX330. I was able to replace the motor assembly inside the mirror. I found it used on Ebay. I imagine a new motor assembly would be affordable, shop around. I'm not very skilled but was able to do this repair. Good luck.

$975 parts & labor at Lexus dealership.

It is called 'actuator sub-assembly' kit for both mirrors.
