Default P0300 misfire

Hi I have a 06 GS 300 My check engine light just came on with A p0300 code took it to the dealer with the warranty paper Lexus mail to me a while ago had no problems with the car before until the check engine light came on and then it started idling rough took it to the dealer and they said it's out of warranty which made no sense to me at the time and it's going to cost over $7000 to fix it because they have to rebuild the engine called Lexus corporate office and the person I spoke with said the warranty is for the time the car is built so it expired March 2013 dear put in a claim and I'm waiting for them to get back to me anyone can advise me on what to do next

Sorry to hear. If another Lexus dealer is nearby, try getting a "second opinion" not so much on the diagnosis (since the code says exactly the issue), but on an estimate of the cost of the rebuild. Another option is check for a local certified mechanic who has expertise on Lexus as this would surely be cheaper.

Thats a random misfire code it can go off for something very minor like a faulty sensor, spark plug, coils etc, i suggest doing more research or getting a second opinion.

Carbon buildup. Lexus extended warranty to 9 years from the in-service date for this with unlimited mileage. Assuming it was in service some time in 2005 then I don't know how it could not be covered assuming that it fits the criteria (and misfires is the major one).

I just wanted to thank everybody for their responses and let you know the end result Lexus headquarters called me back and the claims person I spoke with said the warranty expired but they were willing to pay 50% of the total cost which would be $2500 which I thought was a fair price from what I saw somebody will charge me to rebuild it and also I don't trust them too much they may not know exactly what to do so I called the dealer and they gave me some BS about because I'm a loyal customer they will give me the warranty price mind you before that they were trying to charge me $7500 from what Lexus headquarters told me it would only be around $5500 warranty price anyway I gave my dealer the okay to do it still waiting on it to be finished going on second week now I have a loaner So i don't care how long it takes as long as the job is done properly
