Default Engine Ticking

alright so im getting mixed reviews on this were people say its normal and that its direct injected but I would like to know or gather information on whether someone has fixed this problem or quieted down the ticking.

its not there when its cold but when it warms up, it gets louder.

I took a 3 hour drive to Memphis, TN and when I got there, the ticking was gone. it sounded like it brand new with 0 miles. I opened up the hood to see maybe it just quieted down but no, it was gone. if you put your ear to the engine cover you can hear the direct injection but faintly.

check the video below.

has anyone solved this issue or made a way to quiet it down? the only thing I've tested was using lucas oil stabilizer and it barely made a difference.

lol... .Hopefuly alch can help you!

I felt it's a bit loud too, since in your other forum, you said it annoys you from inside the cockpit....

Also you said the ticking went away after a long drive..... Have you done the recalls on the car yet?

Yeah that's quite a bit louder than mine. Usually it gets quieter after it warms up, not louder. :/

yeah all the recalls have been done... I made sure of that. called lexus (not the dealership), they checked the vin and said its been through all the recalls. you can barely here it from the cockpit when the windows are up, but you can hear it when they are down. worse when your next to a car, divider, wall at a stop light.

that's why i kept doubting it was normal because it was disappear on long drives.

it will get louder when its warm and stay constant.

The biggest source of ticking in my car is not direct injection it's the VSV.

You might want to take it back to the dealer and see if they'll look at it, tell them this is a lot louder than the DI system should be, and ask them to look over the recent recall of the car, as you don't want them to pay for a full engine rebuild if the part they replaced fails.

GL!

yeah I just wonder if I can take it to lexus instead of Toyota to get the car looked at. I got an extended warranty but never asked if I can go to lexus to get the work done.
