2006 AWD exhaust system
Correction. it is a 2008, My system is starting to leak because of the wonderful heat shields. Monro muffler has given me a price of $2,700 and Lexus is over $3,100. I find this unreasonable. Any suggestions?

If it's the same problem as mine, and it sounds like it, I had both sides midpipes replaced with stainless steel that was custom bent on site for $400. Sounds like you're being quoted replacement instead of repair.

Yep it was for replacement system. I am going to two other shops today to see if they will repair. I have 170k on the car. The problem is where the heat shields are located.

Yes that's where mine rusted through on one side... the heat shields are gone now and both sides in that area after the cat where the rear O2 sensors are are stainless. Probably my price was on the higher side compared to what you could find... being as how everything costs more in Canada and i went to one of the "better" places in the city.

I had this same problem at 40k miles shortly after buying the car from a private seller. Apparently this is extremely common on both GS and IS models. I did the same fix as "BinaryJay", but it only ran me $150 all said and done.
It's outrageous what Lexus was charging to replace that section because it includes the catalytic converters.
