New 2007 GS350 owner! Where EXACTLY do I put insulation to stop the rattles?!
Hi All,
Picked up a 2007 Lexus GS350 last weekend. Immaculate condition inside and out with 60K miles. Silver on Black. I was originally looking at a G35S, but the second I sat in the GS I knew there was no comparison. First thing I did when I even started to consider the GS was look at these forums -- what a great, helpful and active community of GS owners!
So unfortunately, the previous owner of the vehicle didn't fix the rattles
I've searched the forums, and there's obviously tons of threads on fixing the rattles. Specifically, I looked here:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...e-at-last.html
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...nd-creaks.html
However, I'm still confused as to where PRECISELY I stuff felt between the windshield and dashboard. Is it drivers side to passenger side or just a section of it. I'd rather not stuff felt in places where it's needed on my brand new GS and potentially cause other rattles :-)
So couple of questions:
- From where to where do I stuff felt between the dashboard and windshield?
- What's the ventilation cowl squeak? How is that different between the instrument panel rattle, dashboard chirp and central console creak as referenced in this thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...e-at-last.html
- Has this process not worked for anyone?
Apologies if I just missed it in the search. Can't wait to get the car rattle free and enjoy it more than I already do! Looking forward to being an active part of this community!

Welcome and congrats on your used but new to you GS.
its unlikely you would have all those rattles and squeaks happen at the same time but anyhow ...
Their was a TSB on the dash rattle where the dealer would install redesigned retainer clips, but if your finding the dealer is being difficult then just use the felt by push on the dash a little apply the felt and playing it by ear.
Personally I have only had the dash squeak problem and no other rattles or squeaks but I'm sure others will chime in tho.

Just got done stuffing felt down the entire front of my dash last weekend. Just get a 3' x 3' sheet of black wool felt, cut into long 3 inch strips and use a plastic putty knife to stuff as much as you can into as many spots as you can fit it into.
It is such as quick as simple fix that you'll be amazed. Much better than disassembling the entire dash.

Rattles are completely gone. Quiet as can be now.

Just wanted to say I stuffed some foam strips I had laying around in 4 random spots across the windshield and it made a HUGE difference. I didn't realize how much noise it was actually making until I did that.
